Getting rid of the AA-capabilities of Jumpjet-Infantry ?
Subject description: They seem to be able to shoot at aircraft even if their weapon is unable to do so.
Well, I'm trying to get a Jumpjet-Infantery unit that is only capable of attacking ground units. Can I somehow stop it from being able to shoot at aircraft while it flies ?
Also is it possible to force it to land before attacking ? QUICK_EDIT
As far as I know, the Jump-jet trooper weapon's projectile has AA set to yes. Naturally, disabling that would yield the result you desire. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

I only tested it shortly and when I noticed that they still try to target air units when flying, I expected them to shoot eventually (but didn't wait until it happens). QUICK_EDIT

I wonder how you did that, because jumpjet units can't be placed in guard mode while flying, so they also can't pick targets on their own in mid-air.
Thus it leaves only the conclusion, that you clicked on the aircraft and the fact that a non AA unit follows a click-targeted aircraft is normal for every unit and not only for jumpjets. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
Well, TS keeps surprising most of us with unexpected hardcoded things... You've made a clone of the weapon? Maybe the JumpJet itself?
I just gave it the weapon of the orca bomber.
Regular air units fly back to their Helipad when ordered to fire at other aircraft and the Jumpjets probably didn't need a solution for that as they were never intended by westwood not to have aa capabilities.
(btw. it has a funny effect; if two flying Jumpjet guys without aa are force firing at each other, they keep flying at one spot, facing each other).
Anyway my problem itself is more or less solved as, even though they can target air units, they aren't able to fire their weapon.

I did make them target it, but I expected that they would behave like normal aircraft when they wouldn't be able to shoot (which don't follow other flying aircraft in contrast to ground units). QUICK_EDIT
Jumpjets are a complete different thing than aircraft. Especially since Jumpjets are only a certain locomotor and not a type of their own like aircraft, infantry and vehicles.
aircraft are hardcoded to
-be unable to shoot at other aircraft
-be unable to use a secondary weapon
-be unable to explode in mid-air (without crashing)
-be unable to use the jumpjet locomotor (makes them invulnerable when destroyed)
-be unable to use hva anims or shps
-return to base when out of ammo or their target is destroyed
-use SpeedType=winged
-be able to land on structures with the key Helipad=yes
etc etc
All these restrictions don't apply to infantry- or vehicletypes, of which jumpjet units are only a special case using the jumpjet locomotor. The infantrytype specific key Jumpjet=yes is only a special workaround from WW, so the infantry is vulnerable in mid-air and automatically aimed/attacked by AA units/defenses. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
