Piranha




The Piranha is a light; fast and agile naval unit designed for scouting missions and hit and run tactics. It's armed with a small torpedo launcher useful for harrasing enemy ships and a mounted light machine gun for other targets. The Piranha may be weak alone, but like the fish it's named after, can be devastating in a group and can out manouvere the larger and more cumbersome vessels of GDI.

Nice. I guess the rocket launchers could be more visible. I can't exactly tell them apart from the remap, but I suspect they are on the rear?

Correct, I have been pondering whether a dash of slightly brighter remap would make them a bit more visible ?

Probably, yes. But with the way remap looks in TS/TO, it'd get closer and closer to pink as we move higher up the remap spectrum. Not a huge problem, since it can probably be fixed with slight edits to the values in the rules.
I'll give defining the missile pods a go, but they're pretty small on this craft... Maybe ridiculously large pods ala everything else would be a better idea?

can't you make the pods stand out more by giving them a single white voxel as the missile tip and maybe also give the inner part towards the cockpit a brighter color, to get a higher contrast.

After some consideration we've decided to change the weapon to side mounted machine guns, we'll be tweaking the graphics for it soon as it shouldn't be a very hard fix. I'll edit the original post when I get an image!

MGs against ships, the strongest armored units ever? Then preferable missiles which can be at least armor piercing.
Or maybe give it a secondary micro-torpedo in addition to the MGs.

The problem we had was if the Piranha used missiles it'd be very, if infact not too similar to the currently unrevealed second tier Nod ship, I was planning on making these bullets a bit more special from the standard machine gun bullets making them higher calibre (visually different) and perhaps even leaving very small explosions to show thier higher power. A group of 2 - 3 would be nicely effective in harrasing GDI ships and eating away slowly at armour like little Piranhas. I would love to have a mini torpedo but it would be a pain to see it travveling on land occasionally. I could perhaps try and do some quick thinking with armour types (already using them all) and make a dummy secondary weapon that won't fire on other targets. If anyone has other suggestions please feel free to post them as we're still not 100% dead set on how the current naval units are and have already made some modifications over some good feedback!

what about conventional weapons...? like a small torpedoe for ships or gatling guns/machine guns that fire at air and sea targets?

Okay, thanks to some suggestions I have now done some tweaking and editing and changed the Piranha yet again. It now has a single torpedo launcher for use against ships and a light machine gun for the other targets it encounters. Thanks for the feedback it's been very helpful!

how about smal grinder that damage slowly, make it cheap and spammable. attacking bigger target in pack, it will be real piranha :p

Honestly, I like the idea of dual .50 Calibers with AP ammo moreso than mini-torpedoes...
