New Spy Units and AI
Subject description: RA2 YR and ARES
I made 2 new spy units, one for Yuri. In Addition, I made several buildings spyable each giving new techs. Now my question is, how can I make yuris spy go after all the buildings if possible. And in addition, how can I make the AI build the Techs that they steal and use that against me? My goal is to make this game into a spy game. Any advice is appreciated, thanx in advance. QUICK_EDIT
Making the AI spy structures is easy. Follow the existing scripts that Westwood created and change the structure accordingly.
Getting the AI to use stolen tech units can be done, but it cannot be done only after the AI infiltrates a building. There's no condition for this and it cannot be done. The best you can do is make the AI fire the trigger based upon an enemy house owning the structure needed to produce a stolen tech unit. _________________ KGR | AT

spies like us
my experience with giving the soviet & yuri side spies has been a rough one. they build the spies just fine, I copied the task force, script, team and the trigger and they work, with the disguise they don't disguise at all, i can tell when an enemy spy for those 2 sides comes to my base because they are normal looking players _________________ I am authorized to send out the TMP Studio, PM ME IF YOU WANT IT And check this out, these were sent to me for help with terrain and zdata help along with TMP Studio/Builder
Well the good news is, yuri spy doesnt disguise itself, it uses cloaking. I made a Russian Commando do the same thing, and its great, u can blow up buildings and get away before it phases out (HEE HEE). The bad news is, I tried DCoders AI editor and keep getting an error. I have windows 7 64bit. Is this common and can be fixed or is there another one that i can use? QUICK_EDIT

I got the Soviet spy working correctly. I used to have the same issue, but I figured out that I fucked the scripting and enumeration. _________________ KGR | AT

now the building number might be off since some new info was given. Whats the code you used.
The problem he was having was the side by side editor. The original AI Editor works on Window ME & XP. the morphed one works for Vista & Win 7.

wow, i used that editor you gave me Nikademis, and it said my ai was FULL of errors. So i deleted all unused entries and unused scriptsand fixed all the tech values until it said there were no errors. i saved alot, so i thought. i exit the editor, then i log back in, and load up my ai and it has all those errors again. Then every now and then i get this error -1 error and my changes arent saved. What am i doing wrong? i checked all the save files it created, none of them were my edited version. QUICK_EDIT
If your using Ares, you can make spies disguise-able with any Country new or old. Keep in mind, only one spy can be disguised at a time. Meaning, that if you make a task force that has 2 or more spies, only one of them will disguise. It's a hardcoded issue and no way around it for now.
[edit] Man, becareful using AI Editor, one wrong click of something can screw the whole aimd .ini to hell. you'd be better off using wordpad or notepad. _________________

Thanx for the heads up, i made copies of my orginal AI incase i screw things up....and i will. I guess ill use the editor as a guide but ill edit everything using notepad and take it from there. Thx everyone for all ur responses, ill post my results and ini threads that work. the 2 spys i made use cloaking, so disguising isnt really an issue, and the cloaking last long enough to give a challenge without being too broken (which i think they kinda are, but they can be stopped). I just want to make them infiltrate all spyable buildings. Now my new question is, the spys i made are limited to 1, can I make different assignments for that spy? For example, lets say it completes the 1st mission, it succeeds in stealing from barracks, now its after another building. Is this possible? QUICK_EDIT
When a spy infiltrates a building, he's gone. You have to create a script for each spyable structure then create a trigger as you would any for any other team. _________________ KGR | AT

I took FurryQueen's advice, and made the Spies attack the warfactory for the lv up and if it cannot attack the power. I made the ai create the units regardless of conditions, I figure i wanted the units to go after me, anyways and the challege would be on me to get the new units vs the ai's buildings. this is the sequence that i used, keep in mind im using cloaking instead of disguises, its more broken tn my opinion. The spys are 007 and 006 from Goldeneye. I thought it was appropriate for the fact that 006 turned traitor. and now yuri has a spy. 007 sequences is the same as 006 so ill just post 006. these seem to work fine on my mod.
