So, I'm still stumped on how to fix the fact that everything renders with a blue reflection, despite turning off the ability for everything to reflect that I don't want reflecting. Including the blue render platform.

Take a look at the metal cylinders especially. Using the RA2 Template.

Do you render with the RA2 Script?
I faithfully use the RA2 script, however I dont render with it. I just use the camera and lights.
Other than that I've never seen that happen, a render with blue haze. Hmmm wierd. Do you have "Dont render against background" ticked in render settings?

You're doing it wrong. Thing is, you'd rather use Donut's template. Why? No such errors.

Also, use Catmull Rom for rendering.

Using the RA2 script is just fine, just dont render with it. It automatically applies some ra2ish effects to it, to which IMO isnt to ra2ish at all. Also using the RA2 script to render wont allow you to use CatMullRom, hence why I only the use the camera and light settings.

But, the thing is, this is Donut's template even though I didn't state his name directly. Unless I'm mistaken and someone else randomly made a template that was better than his. Also, tried RA2 scripts, and I'll have to do that and NOT render with it, because yes, rendering with RA2 scripts is screwy.

And yes, I even went so far as to turn the background black/white/off.

I had those problems as well as many others solved with such an easy trick:
Over the blue background, i placed a "Plane" object and changed it's size so it would be like the final canvas of the unit from the camera's perspective, of course I gave it a different color, for the best results, it's either you set the background color to pink and the plane's color to blue, or the blue background with a pink plane.

Note: it's rather to be the former than the later, since the background color must be the one surrounding the unit, also make sure to view all of your animations frame and resize the "Plane" object so it contains them inside.

not only did it remove those reflections but also allowed me to use "Auto canvas re size" from IrfanView's bulk resize batch options, which greatly improved the speed and quality of importing the images to a .shp file using shp builder.

And the template already has a plane if you payed attention.

EDIT: Rendered with RA2 scripts lighting fixed the blue mostly. Its still blue on some of the metal, but apparently it is unfixable. Also, I killed it forgetting the dimensions of the regular war factory ^^;

I have two planes, are they useless ?, NO, one eat's this sort of AA that 3dsmax applies wither you like it or not, the other solves your problem, try having the Z coordinate of the plane in the template set to (0.2 -> 0.4), It'll solve some problems there.

If I was wrong, then somehow it's something that I do in the middle of that step that solved that for me.

One phrase here "Don't judge before trying"

EDIT: I think I got what I was doing, the reflections occur on the inner template rather than the building, when I use the color replace tool in my photo editor, I remove the inner template with the reflections altogether, which is how it happens to work for me Smile .
