Subject description: A rant
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

+ knowing modders who understand your mod ideas and mod ambitions
+ developing working code for a new stance on a common mod concept
+ feedback and support from well known modding members
+ the thrill, frustation and joy of a epic online battle
+ mods with interesting stories and lores to tell
+ meeting new modders with the willigness to learn and develop

- limitations of game engine
- rage of internal errors and reconnection errors
- oversimplification of modding i.e assumptions and counter productice tools like tibed
- lack of support from developers
- parasites - they bitch, moan and never give anything back

I think 2012 modding will be good but biggest thread is consumerist modding - people taking and not giving anything back.

It takes 2 to tango and its the same for modding.

Find your talents and expand them.

Not much of a rant. In fact, this was rather boring. I'm disappointed, AG. I was expecting a swear laden rant of lulz, but I got this instead. So disappointed...

Wasn't that the same case last year and the year before?

- good maps are too heavy and won't transfer online to other XWIS players

Hence why no-one should use XWIS in the first place.

XWIS has its flaws, but I wouldn't say it shouldn't be used. It's still fun to go up there and play a few games now and thn

CnCNet is doing a pretty good job in replacing it IMO. It doesn't transfer maps either, but mods usually contain enough good maps anyway. Even TS with FS has a pretty good selection of maps in my opinion, at least enough for "a few games now and then".

CnCNet does support transferring maps for the LAN lobbies that supports the transfer of maps. In the future CnCNet will provide a WOL based system, not only a WOL emulator (like XWIS) but also a replacement of the WOLAPI itself if I understood hifi correctly. Sort of what he did with the LAN code allowing online games to be played though it.
