AFAICR, Matze screwed up his download script and ppl can't get FA2 1.02 from his site, look for mirrors or use 1.01.

Awesome. I got it running and already made a level. But i have 2 questions. 1. How do i build a unit on a map and then when im playing in that map be able to control him. 2 how do i make units be able to be bought in like war factory or barracks ect...

1. Some kind of trigger.
2. Map modding. Copy the code that you would normally put in rules(md).ini into the map.

It is a lot to learn all at once.

I don't know much about triggers, so I can't help you there.

Inside the ra2(md).mix file is another file called local(md).mix and inside that is rules(md).ini. You can use XCC Mixer to extract it.

To change what units are buildable you change settings in the rules(md).ini file. Since you want to do it in a map, instead of changing code in the rules(md).ini file, you add code to your map, by editing it in a text editor.

i made a pretty cool level the other day and tried to play with it in multiplayer but whenever i would go to start a game it would say so and so dont have the map. But it doesnt say it will be trasnfered at the beginning of the game. Whats up with that???

Only some of the types of maps will be transfered at the start of a game.

I don't know which are which. If someone knows please tell me and I will add it to my FAQ page.

You may want to send the map to the other players some other way.

In RA2 it transfers .mpr filetypes, in YR it is .yrm. Westwood released filetypes in .mmx, and they have to be on both sides to work properly, the same goes for .yro, which is the YR one. Single player maps use .map, but multiplayer ones too if they're inputted into a .pkt file.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong there, AFAIK, it's right.

Final Alert 2 is newer and better than Final Alert.
