On a related note, as the User Support Agent, which probably will reflect my POV, state and relations on PPM anyway:

I, personally, am not and will not advise or support anyone to use beta Ares builds in released mods. Supporting, answering questions related of beta content/systems on PPM will be delivered, (except if it turns out to be something-should-be-reported on the tracker) but I disagreed the publication of in-development versions from the first moment I got known about.

As part of the USA, I *might* even support mods which did got released with beta Ares, but those modders must accept that I might not do that nicely, even ending up to a state to treating them like freeleachers, ignoring all of their achievements in the community. You've been warned.

Note that this is my own personal decision, not the team's as whole.

Best wishes and happy use/test of Ares. The break is over, we're on the road again. Consider this as a late Christmas/New Years present, but this marks an entirely new way of Ares development, and I expect welcoming the decision from this community.

Hijackers were last touched at the beginning of September 2011. I don't know what state the actual feature's code is in, but even if it were solid, the branch would need massaging to be merged.
In other words: I assume it simply wasn't in a state to end up in what-will-be-master.

I'm sure it'll be in 0.3.

That touch was the move to Git. Hijacker branch was finished around May or so... It was even on the pastebin list of includes. I'm more convinced that it was just got missed out due to being Alex's code.

The last large change was merging the latest trunk in so people would have a up-to-date version. The branch is stable (I know of no problem), and it has been stable for more than half a year now. I consider this at least a fuckup.

I'm pretty sure the hijacker and VehicleThief enhancements will be available to the public when 0.2 comes out.

I wonder how do you guys calculating this "interest" value? If this just a numer of relpies\reports then its kinna wrong. No one post anything at my forum, no one reportring anything, but number of download still going higher, which means people are interested. So i concider this silense as conformation of mod's buglessness. Rolling Eyes

Let's see. I'm sitting 12 hours out of 24 on RenProj IRC, checking Ares wiki, bugtracker et ce tera hourly...

If there would be more confirmations besides Mevitar's on https://github.com/Ares-Developers/Ares/wiki/0.2-test-branch-questions-to-answer I'd be more convinced in interest.

I am very happy you say people are interested in your mod. But you doesn't use everything from Ares, so that doesn't apply as a stability test. You see no bugs, so there are no bugs... this is the POV which causes this haywire.

At least you would say that "hey, I have no issues".... no, you did backstabbed the entire crew, cus your mod is that awesome that it can be allowed. Yet it doesn't even have damage frames, lol.

We don't see anything from your downloads, I personally see more test from the MO beta crew than your mod, because they use 80-90% of the Ares features and aim for MP stability... and because of this, half of the recent reports are associated with MO. The other half is related mostly to FS-21, who also provides feedback.

If your mod has an echo about what works, what not, we'll have something to talk about.

I appreciate your efforts, I just dislike the showcase and the way you treat it.

I have said "sorry" because this leaking was nothing then my missundersatnding of Ares team policy. I have shut down wild download a shortly after. Actually you could just PM me and we could sort everything nice and quietly, you prefered to do a showcase.

Instead of sitting in IRC 12 hours per day (wich is of corse very usefull for Ares progress) you could run your own testing. No one knows this feature better than you. But thats not my business, how you usually spend you free time.

And of course that is not your business how I developing my mod.
I have been a tester and was testing everything i could find a use. No usefull features than there is nothing to test. There were people voiting for "nice\usefull" features, now they are gone, features are done but there is no one to test them, and I am still here, still looking closely, with hope. Damage states is a minor flaw comparing to lack of Tiberium Damage feature wich was annonced years ago but still "confirmed". Or lack of fix for Storage= tag wich have been cut out from list completely. But this is my head ache, don't worry, people need Team Coloured Bolts.

Actually, I have no idea why you had taken my previos post so close. It was nothing but curiosity with out any attempt to offend or something.

Team Colored Bolts was not needed generally, that's true, I needed it both as a mod weapon idea and both as my step-in. I doubt you would take a huge feature as your first, neither, if you would start coding. And yeah, I do test as well, but I'm also doing my mod, AttachEffects (which apparently, as far as I know, has interest) and I have one another small feature halfly finished aimed to hit 0.3.

Confirmed issues went confirmed since pd quitted/they would be great but they are complicated to resolve and not worth the trouble ATM. Especially considering that roadmap went void and there's no possibility that 0.2 get released soon. If at least 3-4 more people could confirm that page, then I wouldn't be that pessimistic.

I want to code stuff, I want to redo Bounty (tbh, I guess around March I get there), but I see no target audience. And tbh I am more oriented in new stuff than Bounty because the Bounty rewire should only be a bugfix of the ROF/AmbientDamage.

Gangster: That is the problem. If people don't speak to us, we can't know what they want. And being a tester means testing the features no matter you could use them or not. Because Ares has almost no testers, several features are still not sufficiently tested. Currently, the developers and the community are waiting for each other.

You wouldn't believe how many features some people deem vital while other people say they aren't important at all. Even if we implemented the top 80% features, nobody would be fully satisfied. For instance, the Storage= tag was voted down by the community in 2010. Since then, (IIRC) nobody brought the issue up again. Yet you say it is important.

And of course, being in IRC is not like staring at the screen for hours until something happens...

I mean, what's this post all about? I think, for the explanations that Graion Dilach makes, that PPM somehow uploaded a unstable version of Ares, and that modders took it and ran with it.

But I don't know.

Before the linked announcement, Ares betas had an internal testing. The official policy was "if you're a tester, test, if you know where the dlls are, be happy, but don't spread, if you know nothing, then you don't have to".

But now the builds are public for anyone, so XY small modder can go and grab the latest beta and blow up everything with that. This actually aims for more testing reports, but so far nothing have changed, I feel testing responses are on the worst peak.

I don't deny what you say once did happen, but it's the past, that stuff is now obsolete, we dealt it out.
