What do you guys think of these for some base walls. They are 6 inch thick plate armor walls fr the Soviets. Complete with a gate. ?????

Looks better in the render but once resized to in-game size it still doesn't look like much of an obstacle IMO.

That looks really small for an ingame size. I rerendered it to actual ingame size with some improvments to the structures also.

Those armor plates are now equivilent to 18 inch thick reinforced steel with reinforced brick stablizers. So, Furry if you can drive a honda thru those now, you a bad mofo. Razz

The hammer & sickle is absurd to have, Soviet military insignia is the red and white star. Also, flipped hammer & sickle like on the second gate? Not seen in Soviet heraldry at all. Just put the star.

but

1. The metal texture looks like concrete
2. I have no idea why u would have metal walls over concrete..

Edit: Metal gate yes, metal walls no.

Impressive work, finally newer walls for the soviet side, not sure why they must always have a brick motif for all there buildings.

When I think of the soviet war machine, I go for more of a steel, cinder block type of construction, but thats my opinion.

Nope. Gate anims dont have a problem hiding things, just have problem of units getting overlapped by things they walk across. IE: gate floor like ts gates have.

Na, didnt miss Gangsters awsome find on the gates. Smile Was just letting him know what happens in YR "without Gangsters tip"using gates with floors.

Has anyone ever tried giving walls more than 2 damage states? I'd hate to model and render a bunch of extra damage frames for nothing. I have the normal and 1st damage done, working on the 2nd damage frames, but would like to add a 3rd if possible.

Agreed. Seeing Hammer & Sickle on everything from tanks to aircraft to structures gets a little...old.

The red star is the one True symbol.

Metal would add penetration resistance to the brick and mortar wall, which would behave like a jenga tower of sorts if hit by cannon shells.

The gates seem kinda odd going into the gate housing due to the gatehouse being smaller than the gate. Perhaps a gate that slides in on itself once then slides in would work better.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'd have this finished already if not for com problems. Thought I had just some bad ram sticks, come to find out my vid card is taking a dump too. So I'm down and out with modeling and stuff at the moment till my problems can be resolved, and is why I havent posted anything in awhile Sad
