The Rhino is indeed nice, but spotlight nice? A tad bit of shading work would change my mind, but for now it's a hmmmmmm type of thing.
C&C3 Mammoth is also nice, but the textures just dont make it fit in with anything, I say drop.
Automated Miner? More of a TS atmosphere type thing. I really cant decipher what it is really. I dont like it.
Trac6, Theres something missing, Not sure what but it looks incomplete for some reason. Drop it.
Guntruck looks so so, I really dont see any quality to this vehicle. Looks like it was rushed. Dont like it as is but could be edited to look much better.
Warthog looks great, a little dark but good quality vxl. Keep.
Aircraft look...Well, they look horible except for stingers heli, but it looks like crap ingame. I think with some allied textures it could be made a quality vxl.
Summary, IMO, as of how they are now just the warthog gets my seal of approval. And even that was a tough one. _________________

The WZ10 is pretty good. I'm actually using it and it fits really well. The MiG is alright too, but nothing special. _________________ KGR | AT

I don't know the right time to cut the fun, but to be honest, if you guys want to recompile the list based on new popularity criterias (aka, votes in this topic), it won't work.
The only way to revamp the spotlighted voxels section, if it is claimed to be so much necessary (which I doubt) is to provide proper and clear criterias. Some of them would be obvious such as: require an ingame screenshot, no black dots, etc.... otherwise we'll get the mess that we are getting in this topic where each person has a completely different opinion and there is no common sense on which voxels should be in or out of the spotlighted section. QUICK_EDIT
What criteria is there in the first place? If we were basing things on new criteria there would have to have been some criteria in the first place. As far as I can see most of the old spotlighted voxels threads are just the rough consensus of the community and the approval of a moderator.
There is common sense on which voxels should be in or out of the spotlighted section. So far the voxels being picked to stay are the ones which don't look rubbish. Is there really much difference here, other than volume of voxels being trawled through, to individuals posting "I believe this voxel should not be spotlighted because it looks awful ingame. Something we'd have been aware of if ingames had been provided in the first place" in the respective voxels' threads? QUICK_EDIT
There is no quality standard. Shit voxels will remain in the spotlight forum because people spotlighted anything back then, and nobody who HAS the ability to purge and fix that forum, will do it. _________________ Victory! QUICK_EDIT

@Orac: Surprisingly, that voxel was good, back in 2003. People did not know the directions from Westwood normals and the auto-normals tools from the voxel editors and from 3ds2vxl were crappy at that time.
Anyway, the current criteria is simple: ingame screenshot and approval from experienced voxellers. Also, there should be no complaints from community members that questions the quality of the voxel model.
It's completely understandable that community standards will get more and more sofisticated, because people are able learn and improve their skills and tools might get better as well. This is why voxels that were spotlighted years ago would no longer be spotlighted by today's standards. QUICK_EDIT
eh, even though quite a few of them dont measure up to todays standards, I say just let them all be. Whatever the reasons, "good, bad, or favortism" they were voted in. Just leave them be unless they are incomplete, "no ingame, download, whatever".... _________________

This is a waste of time. To do this properly we need more than just a binary score (good or bad); we need like a percent. Plus we need to be able to change our scores over time. I don't think forums can be equipped to do those things.
Yes, there was a time that 3ds2vxl was released very buggy and incomplete. I did that to get the community to help with bug-testing. 2 major updates were super-sampling and especially when bglman cracked the normals. Before that the normals from 3ds2vxl were completely wrong. They were in a scrambled order and were not even distributed correctly because I assumed they were polar-mapped when they were actually geodesic.
I moved fast in those days. It seems 3ds2vxl was released with correct normals a few hours after I was notified which was the day after bglman's breakthrough. Here's the historic moment in the C&C editing community:

But what is the point in keeping assets that do not match modern standards? No-one's going to download and use a 2003 voxel in today's mods. We don't have to remove them completely; just keep the Spotlighted voxels forum updated and throw the old stuff to the voxel bin. _________________

It's pointless, which is why I'm not against de-spotlighting it. But we need a proper criteria to do that, which is something that was lacking in this topic. QUICK_EDIT
