Super Bright Issue
Subject description: I think it has to do with my computer more than the game itself perhaps...
Not really sure how to explain it other than that, when I start TS/FS up the screen becomes extra bright and ingame it effects how the lighting looks especially on the terrain. Normally this wouldn't bother me except that it effects me adjusting my map lightings as everything becomes brighter and in some cases shows tiny little details on terrain as if Contrast is also turned up a super amount. This makes it much harder to judge if my lighting is fitting to the terrain.
Now this issue doesn't always happen and I think I might have a clue on what's causing it but i'm not 100% sure. So far the only way I've found to get it to reset back out of the super brightness for TS/FS is to flat out restart my computer....and that gets annoying.
I've tried running the game as admin and that did not help.
I believe it's my computer and not the game as the screenshots I took when the super brightness was going on, looked normal in Ifranview when I viewed them later, which leads me to believe it's something that needs changed/set on my computer rather than within the game.
Now, I believe this is occurring anytime after another program forces my computer to use the Windows 7 Basic theme mode as the normal one I use doesn't work with those programs and/or when something in those programs occurs. For example: ePSXe with the current plug-in and settings i'm using (needed to run certain games smoothly) causes this during certain games such as Chrono Cross or if it doesn't do it when I open the game it's causing it when i Save State for some reason. I also have other games which will cause this W7 Basic Theme to occur too.
However, the W7 Basic Theme does not cause a super brightness on anything else, all it does is temporarily revert everything to a lighter blue and non-transparent color on the taskbar and the Headers on the programs.
However, this may not be what is causing it, it just seems that every time I play TS after this has occurred that TS becomes really ztyping bright to the point of making things look quite bad
I don't remember ever running into this problem when I ran TS off a disc still, however since I'm not near my TS discs I've been using that Freeware NoCD version to test my maps. Not to mention I rarely ever had the W7 basic theme be forced into use until I started using ePSXe a lot more often to replay some of the games I played back in the days of PSX.
So here's my hopes, that someone here as experienced this and knows how to resolve it. Be awesome if it's just a 'hey dumbass do this' and without having to restart the computer because that can just be a hassle at times when i want to test a quick change to the lighting. I've tried editing a few settings already but can't seem to fix it without restarting which only fixes it until the W7 Basic Theme is forced into temporary use again. So any help with this is appreciated.
If there's any other info I can provide you, that might result in an answer to this then let me know.
yes I am working on finishing some maps up....also...what color should I hide this in...using the white probably won't work if people are actually using the forum themes which then make white stand out on the backgrounds =/ _________________ Kalistia Crestland (2)

I've only experienced such strange color problems when my monitor cable was not correct plugged in. Then it can happen that one R G or B channel is missing, which makes the whole screen turn Red, Green or Blue.
Maybe you have a broken monitor cable, where some channels get in contact with each other, thus causing colors to mix up or get unusual bright.
The same could be also true for a damaged GraCa.
If you have a loose connection in one of these, then the slight vibrations of turning the PC on/off could also explain why a restart sometimes fixes the problem. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
Well I'm hoping it's more of what Bittah said over one of the things you've mentioned LKO but to be honest it wouldn't surprise me as store bought computers seem to break/die a lot faster these days. However, if it is just a loose connection I couldn't say as this is a laptop not a desktop and I have yet to venture into opening it up myself to check things out. I did however, send it in to get repaired a year after getting it, as the Fan was making a grinding sound. But that was when the factory warranty was still good.
I find it odd that it only seems to become super bright playing TS though. I suppose it might when I try to play RA2 but I never play that so I don't know. Perhaps I'll go and test that later.
Normally my screen brightness is typically turned all the way up or close to it, but then when I go into game it gets even brighter and even if I turn my screen's brightness down to compensate, the effects of the change ingame still appear on the terrain. _________________ Kalistia Crestland (2)

Well, I do find that if I have adjusted my nvidia windows desktop lighting with the additive light/gamma and such then those will also apply to the game as well and originally the values were too high from get go. So using the normal desktop light usually sorts it for me and any boosts I rather do directly via the monitor.
bottomline, if you have software boosted your desktop at high light then the game will also be boosted, not sure if your issue but happened to me. QUICK_EDIT
