installing ts on win 7

hey ppl, today i wanted to play some ts so tock my disk and run it, the installation window pop up fine but when i click install it ask me to update some comctl.dll file but when i do it, anotter window pop up saying i dont need to update so i chose cancel and install the game, then i patch it to 2.03, replace the exe with the cracked one and run the game, after that an error pop up and ask me to install again lol, any ideas?

i mean the no cd exe, which is usefull in order to no ztype up my disc.

You can just download the game legally off many different sites.

i dont think that the no cd exe i have is the sourse of the trouble i am geting. it use to do pretty well when use it with win xp. now everithing seems to be f.. up with win7 Sad

and i dont want to download the game from anywhere, i like to install it from the discs i bought when i was a child, that is why i cam here asking some feedback.

it's good to see ppl still remember such a great legacy from WW, IMO it remains the best rts game I've ever played.

But this is a ts modification forum not technical support forum, but I do hope someone would come up and solve ur problem. good luck.

aint it easier to make ISO of disc and mount it local from HDD
if youre so scared of damage ?

Or copy the mix files from the CD into your TS folder and simply start the exe.

If you have the original TS discs (not the messed up TFD version) then the game is already perfectly fine playable without the disc.

Well since the Westwood C&C all had epic installers I can kinda understand why you wan to install from disc.

i fugured it out, i just ignored the dll pop up update request and installed, patched and then created a iso from my disc in order to play, i was wrong that damn no cd exe was messing the game, thanks a lot for help guys Smile

now back to moding ;p, does anybody remember where in rules.ini is the section in which you can increase the nuber of units you can build? i mean default is 5 but i remember having increased that in the past and now i cant find that section Sad
