Welcome to PPM: we support moddable C&C games!
Subject description: And you don't have to pay to win a multiplayer match!
Hello and welcome to Project Perfect Mod. This is a community that supports modifications for games.
You may be wondering why am I posting this news... it's not necessarily a news, but, after all this buzz around the Generals 2 free to play direction, I've decided to call attention to this point:
-> We support mods! You don't need to pay any cent for more maps, missions and units for your favourite C&C game, as long as you own it.
The games we support may not have a Frostbite engine with those astonishing graphics, but... hey! Red Alert 3's graphics are alright, aren't them? Or C&C3... Generals.. Red Alert 2... Ok, I can't pimp much the Tiberian Sun graphics, but the campaign of all these games are certainly better than the one that will be launched with... errr... Command & Conquer.
I don't know about you guys, but I don't know why I don't feel much confortable calling this new game Command & Conquer. Even if I'm not a big fan of the amazing plot from Generals, I have the feeling that Command & Conquer was released in 1995.
Anyway, back on topic, the games we support allow us to add new units and even new factions. And that's a cool thing, you know why? Because once you get tired of GDI, Nod, Allies, Soviets, Yuri, Americans, China and GLA, you can play with something else and get a completely new experience. Oh... and that doesn't cost a cent, of course.
And...I almost forgot: we support maps! We don't simply modify the rules of the games, but we also modify the maps played in these games. So, once you get bored of these predictable maps, you can look here and at other fan sites for new maps for your favourite non Forstbite engine game. And, if you still get bored of our maps, you can create your own maps and get some help with that here. Of course that our services does not cost any cent either.
And from maps, we can make missions and even new stories. Not those ones with plots that are full of gaps or where tiberium suddenly starts eating little children and Kane leave for the white void of doom. So artistic, yea! Anyway, the only problem is that it's really hard to get some decent cutscenes in these custom mission maps. But some people already made it and hopefully, with better tools, this job will be easier in the future.
Talking about tools. Ok, some of them are really paid. But not the ones we develop here!
And that's it! Welcome to Project Perfect Mod. If you wanna modify your favourite Command & Conquer game... or even a non-Command & Conquer game, post in our forums. Your participation is what makes this community fun and better. Get posting and get modding. Share your mods, for free. Have fun! QUICK_EDIT

The difference between TS graphics and Frostbite 2 is far too high, Aro. 256 colour palettes, only 36 normal directions... TI does miracles to improve them, but it's still just too hard to compete with nowaday's technology. QUICK_EDIT

I do understand your point. There isn't that much difference between RA2 and TS graphics. I was already forcing a situation when I've mentioned RA2's graphics are alright compared to Frostbite. I just thought that mentioning TS would kill my remaining credibility, if I had any . QUICK_EDIT
Hi, I have an account here but I posted like 2 times in like 5 or more years. I check the page periodically and I love some mods of TS and RA2 that are posted here. I feel the same of you when you say that Generals didn't made it for you. I personally think that Generals is more like a spin-off of the series, and I know that a lot of people like it, I guess as Gral. Patton said once, "quantity already comes with quality" even if in this Generals case, I don't agree. QUICK_EDIT
Red Alert is surely just as much of a spin-off though, except it's existed longer, has more sequels and was made by WW. But it's still a ridiculous side series, like Generals. QUICK_EDIT

Red Alert at least uses the common C&C gameplay mechanics (sidebar, growing resources, etc.) instead of Blizzard-like mechanics such as units that build structures and having limited resources in specific locations of the map. _________________ CnCNet Client | CnCNet TS patches | More Quality-of-Life Improvements for RA Remastered
I think Dune is like Doom to Quake! If you get it.
I like Red Alert! But I think the second is better, not because of the graphics. I've never played RA3, and honestly I don't think I'll ... it just doesn't convince me. QUICK_EDIT
It's a C&C game as long as it has the title C&C. There is no such rule that prevents new games to differ from the previous titles in that series. Hell, Generals is more C&C than Renegade. _________________
If "Command & Conquer" is defined by Tiberian Dawn gameplay, clearly Generals, Renegade and so on do not apply. Tiberian Sun and Red Alert obviously would, and perhaps RA2 as well.
If what counts as C&C is what goes under the meaning of the terms "Command" and "Conquer" then Generals is as C&C as any RTS is.
In any case, General was one of the more enjoyable RTS games I played.
PPM is all about moddable games indeed and, games which can at least be construed as in the spirit of the original C&C: some connection to the original TD gameplay, the notion of genuinely tactical gaming, user friendly design, and interesting military sci-fi ideas.
Does Generals actually apply then? I think it does by my own bias, since even though it isn't really based on TD's gameplay, it still meets the other two conditions of plot and gameplay in C&C spirit.
Obviously, Generals 2 does not qualify for attention at PPM. QUICK_EDIT
If this new game has something akin to Steam Workshop (which we doubt it will have), then it wouldn't be too far off modding-wise. Oh and no CnC game is complete without a giant four-tracked, double-barrelled supertank of some kind _________________ The future belongs to The Forgotten!

I'm actually very fond of Generals but I would never label it as a C&C game (Dozer logic doesn't cut it for me).
QFT.
Also, 100% agreeing with the first post. _________________ "If you didn't get angry and mad and frustrated, that means you don't care about the end result, and are doing something wrong." - Greg Kroah-Hartman

Da, Generals was more akin to Warcraft. However, it does contain dozens of throwbacks to pass CnC games thats its near impossible to not consider it as one. _________________ The future belongs to The Forgotten!
