Slightly longer than last time, but here goes...

The aftermath of the Cabal Incident has receeded, GDI and Nod have once again gone their seperate ways now that the evil AI construct has been defeated. The Brotherhood have gone underground to recuperate after the draining war with GDI and then against Cabal, a few hit and run attacks from Nod extremists are all that has been seen from the Brotherhood in the last two years...

GDI Scientists, having managed to decrypt the Tacitus after the defeat of Cabal, are finally beginning to counter the threat posed by Tiberium. By developing special weapons to actually kill off the Tiberium 'Trees' that appear to spawn the substance, GDI task forces have begun to rapidly reduce Tiberium infestations at a few test sites. Full scale application is said to be months if not weeks away and with the Brotherhood seemingly no longer part of the equation it would appear that an age of global peace and prosperity is not far away.

The Forgotten however, are not taking kindly to the news that Tiberium may well be no more. Despite the strong ties between the Forgotten and the GDI due to Umagon (rescued by GDI war hero Commander McNeill at the end of the Second Tiberium War and saved from terrible mutation by GDI's Tacitus work), the news that GDI are planning to kill off Tiberium has caused several high ranking figures in the Forgotten hierarchy to begin discussion on ways to prevent this disastrous turn of events. Raids on abandoned GDI and Nod bases have yielded useful low level technology that the Forgotten have adapted for their own use, they're ready to fight...

Deep in the heart of the Nevada desert, in an abandoned research facility formerly known as Area 51, old power generators and computer systems come online for the first time in decades. A week later a nearby Forgotten encampment mysteriously disappears, GDI Aircraft sent to investigate could find no trace of the missing Forgotten personnel although closer inspection by ground troops does turn up several sets of footprints headed towards Area 51. GDI High Command does not pursue the matter any further as more and more troops are being called on to support relief efforts in Tiberium stricken urban centres. As the ground crews are pulling out a faint sound is blown over the desert sands, while barely audilble the sound is not to different from the cry of a Cyborg Reaper....

Finally, a bio-genetics and chemical research corporation also does not like GDI's plans for relieving the world of Tiberium. Their government funding for research into Tiberium has, instead, been used to creat a private army of mercenaries and corporate soldiers. In addition, deep within their underground laboratories, Liandros Corporation scientists are working on a new invention. This invention will surely upset the already fragile balance of power in this world and will bring many affected parties into very close competition...

What do you think?

Relieving the world completely of tiberium doesn't make much sense, since it's the last remaining valuable resource on the planet.

Five - GDI, Nod, Cabal, The Forgotten and Liandros Corp. Probably means a little bit of work but should be fairly good at the end of it.

True, but it strikes me that a valuable resource that's extremely toxic to humans wouldn't be good to have around when GDI is trying to rebuild major population centres, also don't forget that both the Forgotten and Liandros Corp have intentions to stop this plan from going forward, and you never know, the Brotherhood might just try and intervene too... Wink

Also true, but what are they going to use instead of Tiberium? From what I've read it has sucked up all the other natural resources and is the only one left. It would be a major backstab for humanity and would be unable to support the humongous population.

Sorry, but I always find myself discussing energy problems and its consequences #Tongue

lol, its no problem, basically (I might flesh the story out a bit to reflect this) the GDI are hoping that renewable energy sources such as solar and hydroelectric power (there are examples of both in the TS civilian structures) will be enough to support their power needs (urban structures have taken a hit so its not like power demands are going to be great for a while. At the moment currency isn't really an issue as the massive Tiberium increase seen in the Second War gave them a rather large backlog of credits to use up and so they are doing.

Also (I really could do with /spoiler tags right now Sad ), Tiberium isn't going to go away. If you've read the story it says that Liandros is working on an invention that will no doubt upset the balance of power in the world at the moment, this coupled with the name of the mod (Artificial Insanity) should give you some clue as to what they're actually working on. It'll be more potent, more valuable and very, very dangerous...
