Ok today in Serbia, Russia, Macedonia and several other countries is Christmas. Today and next two days, though today only is official celebration and people do not go to work.

The Orthodox church doesn't use the Julian calendar for working out the dates of festivals. This leads to a slight difference between when Christmas is celebrated in the western church as opposed to the eastern. Same goes for Pentecost, Easter, Saint's Days (although the list of saints is different between denominations anyway) and such.

Alternatively, it could be that in some places Christmas is celebrated on the date set for commemoration of the visit of the Magi, which is considered to 'complete' the Christmas event.

That's wrong. It ACTUALLY DO use the Julian calendar and that's the reason. What you think as Julian calendar is called as Gregorian calendar.

The Julian calendar is the one which has every fourth as leap years, Gregorian one has every fourth leaping, every hundred not leaping and every four hundred leaping.

But here you are, LKO, why 7th January.
