Fixed the shadow on the interior (removed it, and have the door anim cast a shadow instead), and made a second door anim where the sheet simply sinks into the ground.
A quick screen of a typical Forgotten base, showing the combination of
- MAWEAP - Forgotten Vehicle Factory
- MATREF - Forgotten Crude Refinery (cheaper than regular NAREFN, no free harvester)
- MASEED - Tiberium Seeder (generates tiberium; active anim is of tiberium tree throwing out spores)
Something I made for SuperJoe - the Forgotten Logistics Center. Built from prefab modules and with a liberal scattering of supplies at the ready, this building serves as a supply cache of sorts, and also allows the using of said supplies to construct tunnel networks around the Forgotten base
The design is 3x3, but can easily be extended to a 4x3 design with a bib, allowing it to be turned into a refinery.
I think it would better as a 2x2 Forgotten barracks, with the road area made into just pavement. The small tower thingy could be changed into a guard tower. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
It is meant to be the control tower that watches over the loadings and doings of the yard below - much like the control tower at an airport - but yes... Maybe not blending in perfectly.
Ooh. Idea. SOLAR PANELS! _________________ Adapt or die QUICK_EDIT
After digging through the .mix files some more, I found something to turn the previous Logistics Center into the perfect Mutant Tech Center - a big dome!
GATECH has a big dome, while NATECH has a smaller and flatter dome - but a dome regardless. This civilian dome, as seen in the middle Forgotten building, was taken from aban02, and performs the part of "mysterious dome to cover mysterious tech-y things" quite well for the MATECH structure. Some antennae and a shuttle mast later, and it looks suitably high-tech for something that was cobbled together from the ruins of the red zones.
To the left is the smaller 2x2 Mutant Hovel; to the right, the 4x3 Vehicle Factory, and the 2x2 Tiberium Seeder in the top right corner.
Been reading through the TS manual (freeware version scan) and the section on the Forgotten was quite interesting. Is it just me, or is there a rather consistent emphasis on subterranean bases for their side? I am going to give it more thought, then see how one could incorporate that into their building designs (along with a more prefab look like the Hovel and the Logistics Center). _________________ Adapt or die QUICK_EDIT
I already made a Mutant Radar, the Comm Center - should be on page 1 or 2 somewhere. As for using the dome, see below for MATECH.
Also included is a new base defense for the Forgotten, the Artillery Emplacement. Tier-wise, this is meant to be the equivalent of the RPG Turret and Obelisk of Light - the "heavy" turret that you get for taking out vehicles. This one currently uses the GAARTY turret and weapon as-is, but both are open for mods (no voxel editor this side, so no edits of the turret).
Flavour-wise: the Forgotten have scavenged heavy artillery pieces from old pre-Tiberium army depots, and have adapted Nod's Artillery tech to create this structure. It fires a round with a similar caliber to the Nod design, but due to the older chassis used, it is not as mobile. It can still hammer away at any unit that comes within range, and is the perfect defensive support for engaging enemy units that have been stalled by Forgotten infantry.
Two new structures, the Supply Station, and the Scanner Tower that was inspired by it.
The Supply Station is a 2x2 structure that deploys from the Supply Truck, which uses the TRUCKB voxel; once deployed, the Supply Station has two main functions:
- it has a RepairVehicles weapon, allowing it to automatically repair any vehicle that comes with base contact with it
- it has BaseNormal=yes, allowing a proper Forgotten base to rapidly be established around it with the building of turrets, refineries, factories, and so forth
The Scanner Tower is intended as the Forgotten radar structure, an alternative to the Comm Station I posted before. It can then be upgraded with a captured Nod satellite dish, which can then give some appropriate superweapon (Hunter-Seeker for my testing purposes). The smaller dish that it starts out with does not rotate 360 degrees, but instead pingpongs through about 180 degrees - the pic shows roughly where the two extremes are. Did not want to add too many spinning animations, else the building would have looked like it was trying to take off...
