Something I've been meaning to test for a long time. Most of you are probably aware of the cyborg reaper bug. Right after it dies you can keep shooting it and each shot counts as if you killed the unit again. This way you can quickly level up units since they are getting free kills of an expensive unit. Well my idea is to exploit this bug: Make a target practice target that you can keep shooting to level up your units. Create a neutral unit called Target and kill it off right away with map triggers. Make the unit use death frames in art.ini

Code:

[TARGET]
DeathFrames=1
DeathFrameRate=1
StartDeathFrame=0
MaxDeathCounter=9999999 ; Whatever is max?

Give the unit a lowish cost so units will have to keep shooting it for a while to level up (something like Cost=10?). Expensive units like tanks will have to keep shooting it much longer than cheap infantry. Now the target should remain on the map forever or at least for a very long time, and units can keep shooting it to level up. There would be no way to destroy the target though, other than having the death counter run out. Eech shot against it also counts towards the kill count of the match, so it would probably be best to use it in singleplayer missions only.

Here's a quick test anim of the idea:

I'm not sure if this works 100%. When i created my Nod Scorpion big mech, i gave it a very long deathanim (much longer than the reaper).
And there were still occasions were the deathanim stopped playing before it reached the last frame or didn't played at all.

This might have been the result of someone controlling the unit, giving it new move/attack orders and this way interrupting the deathanim. Though i'm not sure.

Maybe this does indeed work perfectly well on a Neutral unit which doesn't gets any orders.
