What do you mean by making the tank icon more realistic? May I see the cameo of the tank you made so we could have a look?

The best way to make your tank look more real is to use a natural color to blend with the background. Correct point of the view. Your cameo is too bright, and therefore it is not natural. Use like dark gray or green. Show where the lighting should be and the shadow casting. I recommend that you look at other cameos that other modders made.
