Aircraft Series: 2 of 3.

This is my version of the RA1 Spy plane. It is obviously loosely based on the in-game (shp?) vs the obviously different cameo image used for the support power button (I have read the opinion that the cameo is an image of a MIG-15).

I used various references of Sukhoi aircraft that had canards, when modelling the spy plane (The main blueprint was of a SU-33 for reference sakes).

This time I tried to do more continuous (real?) modelling, rather than a bunch of separate chunks like the RA2 MIG. In the end The aircraft was 2 chunks; the body canards and wings, and the engines and tail fins.

Having modelled continuous I wanted the UVW chunks to be has continuous has possible. In the end having such large chunks meant that I wasted a lot of UVW space, because I did not have several small pieces that I could jigsaw together.
So overall there are a lot less pixels being used in this texture than in the RA2 MIG texture.
Obviously if I had missiles and other armaments, then that would use up some of the unused space. Still, since my preference is for large continuous UVW chunks when it comes to aircraft, I will have to find ways to deal with this in the future.

I also wanted my texture .psd layered in such a way that it would be simple to add new liveries without having to redo large parts of the texture.
In order to test the set-up, I did a quick 'Red alert' livery, which you can see in the GIF below.

That is supposed to be a goddamned spy plane? I honestly disagree. #Tongue

nice model, but i'm cringing at the thought of modern fighter airframe as a "spy plane"
It's like using a M1 Abrams model as a "recon tank"

ah the magical supermig. I like the all-remap body, but why the gold outline on that one's star? The PLA (China) uses that, applying that on a Soviet vehicle is wrong.

Thanks for all the comments!

The Soviets rarely used the gold outline star (on aircraft), but rarely is not never.
I can try the black outline version maybe (which was also rarely used on aircraft).

Picking a star with a contrasting border is simply so it will stand out, so maybe I could try the red edged white border star?

You mentioned how the plane is made up from different sections so you can make the UWV in as little pieces as possible. I hate to ask, but I'm struggling at modelling planes (and helicopters in extend) because I have no idea where to start Confused Can you give some pointers if possible?
