Le Grand Cannon
Subject description: Image heavy!
Here is my take on the notorious Grand cannon.
Has is often the case, it is directly based on the RA2 voxel\shp combo because I do not have any design skills to redesign any part of the Grand cannon or to attempt to incorporate real world features.
Again I would be interested in what a skilled concept artist, modeller and texture artist could come up with if they were to redesign the Grand cannon while keeping within the spirit of the RA2 classic.
I did a metallic version loosely based on the France skirmish load screen Grand cannon (it bothers me that somewhere, at some point, a larger piece of 2d art or maybe a nice size render existed of the skirmish load screen Grand cannon, but no one felt the need to keep the art. I would have loved to have modelled that version instead of the in game version), has well has the normal house colour version.
The final size would be decided at a later date. Please keep in mind that the model has not been rigged, so it is in the pose it was modelled in (the in game Grand cannon had the barrel pitched up slightly by default).
I will probably do a little bit more weathering of the texture at a later date.

House colour version (blue paint is likely house colour area).
Fantastic, wouldn't mind this rendered for RA2 to save everyone from the crappy voxel turret.
THIS! I wouldn't care even if it lost the recoiling barrel just the increase in details already would make the Building 10x cooler. _________________ ~ Excelsior ~ QUICK_EDIT
I adore this. Would you consider adding a few kill scratches to the barrel and maybe a spade or heart from playing cards to it to add a little more... variety to the texture? I suggest that because French vehicles during WWII tended to be adorned with those symbols. _________________ Victory! QUICK_EDIT

This is interesting, do you have any images that show what you are describing?
Specific tank or ship kill decals would be preferable to scratches for me, but I cannot visualise it on the Grand cannon. QUICK_EDIT
I don't know French, but I'd assume that Dragoon might be spelled the same as Dragon in France, and it is a nod to the old French units - Mind you France still uses titles like Fusilier these days in the modern military.
