TiberiumWeb.com ending with the Mayans?
Subject description: Operation 'raise the bones' has been started at PPM to save TibWeb.
If you've looked for Tiberian Sun, Tiberian Dawn or Tiberium Wars content on Google, you've probably found something on TiberiumWeb.com, which is pratically a sister site for us, with a great coverage on Tiberian Sun, specially. TiberiumWeb had a long story with us, since the days of TiberiumSun.com, by organizng a lot of contests and feeding us with news as well. Despite being one of the main Tiberian Sun references of the web, the site is going down due to lack of interest of those who were running it. Here's the words from The DvD, who kept the place running in these years, after he was informed that he had to change the DNS of the domain (tiberiumweb.com):

Hey guys.
I changed the settings to the ones Renegade provided and it seems to work. Now as to what caused the site to move, it could be related to the fact that I didn't renew the site's hosting plan at Siteground. They must've moved it to another location in preparation for the cancellation of the entire thing.
The reason why I didn't renew it is because, well, the site's completely dead (aside from the TS mapping and modding forums it seems, and Aro diligently updating it with TI news #Tongue).
I backed up the entire ftp a few days back but in all honestly I wasn't even planning to make any sort of statement or notification about killing off the site I honestly didn't think anyone would still care, sorry for that. I'm very busy with studies atm and actually never give the site a moment's thought aside from when Siteground bothers me about it (which they recently did concerning the renewal of services, which I declined).
So while I'm here I may as well urge all whom it concerns to back up any exclusive stuff or move it to PPM. If anyone's interested in the backup files let me know and I could upload them. Which reminds me.. I don't think I backed up the forum database.. I think I forgot how to do that, at least I cannot for the life of me remember it right now, so if anyone would enlighten me, that'd be nice.
BTW, the hosting expires at 30th dec, if I understood Siteground correctly (which isn't always easy) that's the date they will physically delete the files from their server.
So, that's it. Technically, the site would be dead by december 30th. Just nine days after the end of the mayan cycle. But this situation can change, although I make no promises. We are trying to host TiberiumWeb.com in this server and we shall do it if The DvD authorizes it. Considering that he has already uploaded a backup of the site here, there are positive chances that the site may continue as an archive in the next year.
So, we'd like to request everyone to not upload attachments on TiberiumWeb forums. We may not be able to restore it, if we ever get their forums back online.
As a consequence of DvD's words, there are several exclusive contents of TiberiumWeb being transferred to PPM forums. In order to accomodate part of the contents, we've created the Mapping Tutorial Forums for Tiberian Sun.
I trully hope TiberiumWeb continues online in the next year. It's not interesting for the fans of Tiberian Sun and for PPM itself to see the rest of the community to fade away. QUICK_EDIT
You need a miracle to attract new active members to TibWeb. Basically everything that site has could be included in corresponding forum sections here (except TD, maybe TD and RA could have their own "Old School Moddin'" section)
I don't want to sound rude but that's the truth. _________________

I'm aware of it, Crim. This is why I don't plan to be active with TiberiumWeb. I just think that the information that it holds is valuable as well as its community. QUICK_EDIT

It did get a couple of new, active members every now and then, but all the administrating failures with downtimes and such scared them (and some of the older members) away.
Actually, the sole reason why TibWeb didn't get any new active members is simply because registering had been impossible for years...
User validation was set to manual in as a countermeasure against the bot infestation and when DvD and Python became less active around TibWeb, it meant that there was nobody around to validate new members (when I first checked how many members were waiting for validation the number was already over 1000, so I didn't feel much for going through that number of members either =P). _________________ QUICK_EDIT

It seems the site is currently up on tiberiumweb.org, but its internal settings still make all links go to the .com address... what's up with that? _________________ QUICK_EDIT

There's got to be something we can do to update all tibweb's links to .org, even if it means we edit the htmls one by one, little by little, as a community effort.
Keep in mind I've got beginner-level HTML skills, so that's the bet proposition I can think of _________________ The Fall of Hammerfest - Epic Tiberian chain story

I thought I'd be able to buy the .com domain in a couple of months, but I don't think it will be possible. So, I'll edit everything to point out to the .org domain which I bought to put it running temporarily.
Anyway, this task is not high in my priority list. QUICK_EDIT
