Gathering Images of Painted War Planes
Subject description: The flying shark faces of doom...
Hey guys.
Despite my lack of knowledge on WW1, WW2 and even a lack of knowledge on general Military aircraft, I love the aesthetics of old war planes. I am in the process of getting my tattoos finished and I have saved a lot of space for some war planes. The tattoo sleeve itself is of a war/aviation theme, but since I know this community isn't a great place to talk about tattoos, I thought you would be an ideal place to ask for help gathering images.
Obviously, I have already done an extensive search for painted war planes, but my searches do not necessary turn up what I'm looking for since I do not know the actual names of most planes (only a certain few such as the P-40, Spitfire, Comet and Lancaster Bomber). Specifically, I'd like any aircraft (the country of origin doesn't matter) that has shark headed and faced paint jobs.
The images themselves should be of high quality, doesn't matter if they are actual photographs, 3D renders or good quality sketches, my only real requests are that they have shark war paint and are images of them in flight/combat. Colored images are not an essential, but a preference.
I have already asked on a few other forums, including the World of Warplanes forum, but the responses haven't been very useful in actually gathering images or even listing names of planes I can look for. I know most of you have an eclectic and extensive knowledge on the World War subjects and military vehicles, so I thought you'd be of more help than the other places were.
If anybody happens to come across images of a skeleton soldier/pilot, I'd appreciate them sharing those with me too! That image is also a good reference for the kind of tattoo I plan on getting.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
so you know already it has to be a plane? Something like the famous plane pin ups would be then a no-go right?
I'm not sure, but i doubt there are a lot of pictures. In the past these were war machines, so not long enough alive to be painted with beautiful art, and later they simply weren't used anymore.
The only place where you could find nowadays some nice painted propeller planes would be in the red bull airrace.
^^pussy wagon in air
too colorful?
But usually these also include only rather simple painting.
something bigger: flying fortress
click image for page with more military art.
if you want black&white tattoo, this might turn out cool
One of my favorite "old planes" is the F-86 Sabre (1949)
and the MiG-17 (1952) here in Polish markings. Pretty hard to find them with shark paint jobs.
The F-86 and the MiG-17 and MiG-15 fought during the Korean war. And certain other conflicts after that.
The B-52 Stratofortress (1952) is also a cool old plane, which is still in active service. No shark teeth here either.
and the A-10 Thunderbolt II (aka Warthog), which might be stretching it a bit with it's 1977 service date, but a cool plane non the less and hard to find without shark teeth.
That image is missing the most important factor: The fact that it's not a plane. The pilot side of things I'm looking for is essentially a German WW1 Pilot uniform with a skull for a head. It's a thin request since searches turn up practically nothing, I can't draw well enough anymore to design it myself.
I plan to have a Kirov thrown into my sleeve somewhere. QUICK_EDIT
