can be many things
-anti-virus scanner blocking the connection to scan for viruses
-firewall blocking the connection
-unstable TCP connection between you two (e.g. broken cable)
-damaged network interface
-wrong/bad LAN drivers
-bad OS
-running background processes which interrupt the connection
-wrong modded TS (e.g. by adding CellAnims, forgetting Animations on the list, missing warheads etc etc)
-corrupt mix file
-broken hardware (e.g. HDD failure)
-your PCs don't like you
-...

It can be a number of things that could cause this. But one thing that needs to be made sure of, is you need to understand what causes Recons when you start modding the game.

When all else fails, try GameRanger. It's worked for me, though it does defeat the purpose of the whole "LAN" thing.

Disabling DirectDraw acceleration (via dxdiag / ddraw.dll) under XP can cause reconnection errors in my experience.

Then there's the list LKO made, and often the problem is just unsolvable. With some of my friends I always get reconnection errors in a few minutes, while with others I can play 5-hour games without problems.

CnCNet has been very reliable so far (assuming you disable the P2P option), try playing through it.

Last time I checked it didn't support TS, only RA2.

Have to say, I had no troubles with CnCNet after some of the networkers disabled P2P, yes. At some ploaces it doesn't work, but ordinary is as stable as a rock.

sorry but i've been forced to bump this topic

TS is driving me insane heres the list of problems i have playing lan with PCs running Windows 7 Home 64bit, Windows 7 Home 32bit and Windows 7 Basic 32bit

Bare with me but heres my list of constant annoying errors i'll try to expain them as well as i can...

1) Waveclass Error - just thought i'd mention this one this is about the only error i can find a fix for

2) Radar Vanishes - Sometimes (usely on the Win7 Basic 32bit PC) the radar just goes black and is unfixable but the game still runs

3) Screen cascade - Commonly (on the Win7 Home 64bit PC) the screen will cascade everywhere i move the mouse but the game will continue behind the wall of cascade units and bit of map just where ever i moved the mouse

4) Recconection Error - Sometimes (on all PCs) i still get the recconection error like in this topics title

5) IE - Commonly (on all PCs) if the screen dosen't cascade on my PC we'll usely just get a quality message saying An Internal Error Has Ecured

6) Disconecting - Rarely (one all PCs) one of us will just disconnect it's come up with a box saying you lost connection 30 seconds to recconect and we can't so goodbye replaced by an AI

I doubt anyone will be able to fix all these problems but if anyone knows anyway to fix just one of them then please reply and save me from losing the will to mod TS for ever cheers

I'd throw winME or 98SE in vmware
install guest tools so you can use enhanced graphics and network
then install TS inside

and play over LAN via virtual machine

maybe you'd get better results
(but the pc running 64bit winos might have problems) #Tongue

In the moment, when you get disconnected, what says the Windows Eventmanager? Are there any Errors or warnings at the Moment when you got disconnected? =/

and you should get a view at your Checksum-Settings on your networkinterface in the Device-manager! look at the Screen...

Sorry to bring this thread back to life. But it's my thread anyway and the problem remains.

Me and my brother started playing TS again, with my new mod over the internet (CnCnet) and nothing has changed it still doesn't seem to be physically possible to finish a game without a IE. Has anyone ever actually finished a modded TS online game before? It pisses me off. All we want to do is have a game of TS from are homes, but no, that just will not happen no matter what, it will always crash like 45-1 hour into the game. It's a joke, if were lucky we may be able to finish 1 game in 50, and that only if it ends quickly, and recently we haven't finished a single game.

Does anyone have any sort of solution to any issue with TS online play. Theres a list above of errors we get when playing online (although we don't get 1-3 anymore, yet anyway).

Please help me!!!!

TI: hundreds of games have been finished without IE
DTA: hundreds of games have been finished without IE

and both are mods which change the game massively.

It is by 99.999% chance a problem of your mod.
Missing voxel debris HVA files can cause strange errors like bad screen.

Mod clean, without adding errors to the game. Wink

I was sure my mod was pretty stable, i have added 2 new teams edited the exe, and language.dll by the way.

Do you have any suggestions on good ways to find errors in the inis. I have spent hours sprawling though my inis with only the occasional problem popping up. Maybe someone can suggest some things that commonly cause errors, and are common in mods or something. It's annoying getting IEs all the time when you spend 2 months on a mod.
