This TC mod for Unreal Tournament 3 brings Renegade into the UT3 engine. It features the C&C mode Renegade had, where you play as a GDI or Nod soldier and try to destroy the other's team base with many weapons from Tiberian Dawn, like Mammoth Tanks, Flame Tanks, Laser weaponry and High-Velocity Sniper rifles!
The first public beta has 18 classes, 11 vehicles, many weapons and structures, and 2 maps, named Islands and Fields (Renegade veterans should remember these ). The only thing you need to play this mod is Unreal Tournament 3 (fully patched). You can get this game really cheap at the moment from several places.
The current used servers are these:

There is also an instruction video that can be downloaded here. This video explains how to play this mod and how the C&C mode works.
I do advice to scroll down this page for more info on how to set up the mod, how to join a server, and more.
For more info you can visit their site, and you can download the mod here QUICK_EDIT
yeah i saw this a long time ago and it looked very impressive and i can't believe they are getting away with doing this. anyway i kind of don't like the fact that they have recreated even the game design flaws of the original game. QUICK_EDIT
i don't have much experience in ego-shooter games (especially the UT3 engine), but wouldn't the CryENGINE 2 from Crysis have been a better choice for this as it also supports large areas and much better graphics?
Anyway it's nice to see C&C TC's on other platforms and engines. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings

It's more likely that UT3 is more modding friendly, and requires a less powerful PC then CryEngine 2 QUICK_EDIT

Exactly. My laptop can stably run UT3 and RenX with almost all settings maxed, awhile CryEngine2 (Crysis Warhead/UT-3 equiv mod) I could probably hit Medium with some settings cranked down to Low. _________________ YR modder/artist, DOOM mapper, aka evanb90

You are so right with that
While cry uses C++, LUA and Adobe Flash (Action Script) Unreal modding is most of the time pure UnrealScript. It may be a bit slower (performance wise as it is a script language) but as it is designed for the task of easy access it is really, really easy. (And if you did something like Java or C# you can start directly, maybe 7 new keywords and thats it. As an example:
If you want to do mouse position changes or whatever for cry you would need, dunno, like 20 lines of code for getting the mouse entity, look at some cry modding wiki if you want to know exactly, in uc its just "PlayerInput.aMouseX" or "PlayerInput.aMouseY" whatever you want. The engine does all the other stuff for you. QUICK_EDIT

Eyup. If my PC wouldn't be on the exact minimum specs, I would have installed it already... but not with that in mind. _________________ "If you didn't get angry and mad and frustrated, that means you don't care about the end result, and are doing something wrong." - Greg Kroah-Hartman

Good game and idea, but that huge amount of details make playing online quite random in some situations, it's hard to recognize your own troops from a med-long distance. QUICK_EDIT
Personally I don't like it very much, and much prefer the old Renegade. I think they've modernized it to much and taken away a lot of that comedy arcade factor that made Renegade so enjoyable and tried to make the game semi-serious, like most rubbish modern games. QUICK_EDIT
I played a couple of games and it was pretty fun. The more well lit maps seem better than the darker and foggier ones, but it was all pretty fun. QUICK_EDIT

Semi-serious? The game is in no way serious, when you frag someone you hear "boink!" and when you get headshots their head flies off. The comedy factor is still very much there.
I find it very similar to the original Renegade, but with a graphical update. I find it fun. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

It takes to much from modern video games like, sprinting, being able to look down sites etc. Although it still isn't really a serious game, it still lacks that simple just point and shoot feel of original Renegade in my eyes. QUICK_EDIT
Without it the game would have the monotonous slog from base to the actual conflict like Renegade had. The maps are too large for the gameplay to maintain any sort of pace when the combat is 40 seconds of plodding away.
I have yet to find much benefit to the sights on most of the weapons in Renegade X, apart from the sniper rifles which had sights in the original anyway. It's really not that important. Last edited by Orac on Sat Mar 01, 2014 12:18 pm; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT

SMG headshots. Instead of silenced pistol, get SMG, and click back and forth from sights to not sights. You can get a few more headshots which could tip the balance in your favor, one on one. _________________ Destroy to create. All for the hunt to dominate!
