I went to play DTA today and noticed you guys have been very busy!

I must say well done and congrats one your work on this project.

As a game developer myself I am always pleased to see other developers doing well with their own projects.

Once again I just want to say I think you have done a fine job and I hope you bring this kind of determination and effort into all of your future projects.

I also look forward to crushing soviet tanks with my mighty nod arsenal once I finish updating Very Happy.

Thanks and it's indeed been a while... I haven't seen you around since DTA 1.11 was just released (which was just over 2 years ago). I'm glad you're still following this mod Smile

And about the Soviet tanks crushing... good luck with that (you're surely gonna need it) Razz

Also if you guys are looking for a new project let me know I could always use some help with the game I am developing.

Provided of course you have experience with pixel art and sprites:D

I doubt I'll be calling DTA truly "finished" any time soon, so DTA will be offering enough work for quite some time to come already.
I'd actually prefer more help over more work, if you know what I mean Razz

I do have experience with pixel art and sprites, but that mainly concerns editing them, rather than creating them from scratch.

I find a hard Soviet AI more problematic than any side (unless it's a bigger map). The no limit on Tesla Tanks for the AI was definitely a good move to make that faction more challenging.

The AI pretty much cannot be made to follow build limits. What I did attempt to do was making special units relatively rare so that the AI wouldn't exploit the issue too much. The Tesla Tank's build limit is 3, so it cannot be made as rare as the Cyborg or XO anyway.

When I wrote the current AI, I tested it a lot by making AIs of different factions fight against each other. To me the different sides' AIs seemed to be balanced compared to each other. Maybe your playing style makes the Soviet AI seem harder than other sides' AIs.

That's generally the case with indie projects, including DTA #Tongue We also lack graphics artists, mainly 3D modellers. I also have my own projects in addition to DTA, so while I could be interested, I'm already way too busy with DTA and my personal projects.

Really? I usually see GDI AIs dominate other AIs by early A10 rush their CY with little opposition on various maps.

But other than that, I do agree they are evenly matched. Yeah, I have trouble with Sov AIs on smaller maps because there's only so little time to stop so much armor and sheer firepower. I'm not really good with early rush tactics.

Do you tried infantry? DTA had infantry almost useless for quite a while but with 1.12 they got a lot better balanced.
A small group of bazookas can lay waste even to bigger heavy tank armies and when mixed with a few tanks they can also be a serious threat to mammoths.
With infantry now being faster in 1.12 they are also harder to crush. You just have to micromanage them good and stay away from the enemy tracks. (the x scatter command can do wonder in these times)

I feel you guys on that, I have gone through maybe 16 or 20 artists (mostly because they flaked) so my patience has worn a bit thin.

I didn't realize that this topic was going to get engulfed by how to defeat the simple Soviets and their tank spam. (hint: Rocket infantry and air does wonders as well mines and artillery).

But do me a favor guys if you find a decent pixel artist who has experience making sprites (from scratch) let me know. Unfortunately the job isn't paying until release. And requires 100% dedication since I am going to be competing against other developers.

Just out of interest; does this look like good graphical quality to you?

(ignoring the obviously WIP parts like the shore errors)

Tanks are usually not the probs. I usually get an unlucky V2 to the face when I'm not micro-ing the RSs well against HTs and Mammoths. It's a dedicate process, I get what you are saying.

Hey, I like the challenge. It keeps me on my toes with bazookas in and scatter before the V2s fire again.
