So I finally got Windows 7 again after two months, and I'm trying to install TFD. I'm having an error that I once had a little over a year ago. I actually made a topic about it.
http://www.ppmsite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34656

I'm having the same error with the same file, but the problem is I don't remember how I fixed it before.

The suggestions at the old topic did not work for me. Specifically Alex B's post

Quote:
It could also be the copy protection, interfering virtual CD-ROM drives, driver problems, dual core issues and whatnot.

Start setup and set the processor affinity to one processor in Task Manager before files are copied.

Alternatively, try to create an image of the disk and install from it. If that does not work copy the disk's contents to the HD, and change this tag in setup.ini before starting setup:
[Startup]
CheckMD5=N

Hope this helps.

The last post in the topic was me saying copy protection must be the answer, but I never said it was actually fixed.

I know I ended up fixing it though. So far I've taken off anything that could get in the way of copy protection, specifically UAC. I also just tried to copy the disk's contents but data9.cab (the file that is causing the error) couldn't copy because "it couldn't be read from the source"

I don't believe it's a bad disk though, seeing as I fixed it before when I had this problem with the same disk.

It does sound like a faulty disc since you cannot copy the file even manually. Maybe you could try copying the file on a different system?

Isn't it true that your game is not illegal if you download the image, but still have a valid CD key?
It's exactly how Origin works.
So I'd say, go to the well known ships and set your sail towards TFD.

I installed all but RA2 and YR (which had the error). TD and RA1 worked fine, but when I went to play TS it told me that "One or more DLLs is broken or damaged, please reinstall." I got the same error after reinstalling TS.

At this point, it most likely is the disc. Haven't tried Generals yet.

UPDATE: Changed the compatability mode of the setup application and it worked for the most part. I have Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 working perfectly.

Yuri's Revenge however didn't finish installing and after half an hour I had to reboot my computer cause it froze when I decided to try cancelling it. It's technically installed but since it didn't completely finish it says "Failed to initalize, please reinstall" when I try to play it, but I need no help figuring that one out. I just need to see if I can get YR to successfully install.
