So yeah, I try to get into Japanese a bit for reasons I will not tell (yet). Short said: I took an image with Japanese text, and try to translate said text to English. I recognize the basic Hiragana and Katakana characters, but I quickly run into problems with the more difficult characters. I tried looking on the interwebs, but I only find information about the basic characters which I already recognize. As the text is part of an image, I also can't simply throw it in Google Translate. Is there some way to figure out what a character means?

Find someone who actually knows Japanese or improve your google-fu.

Google translate can input text by the use of pen tablets(handwriting) not sure if it works well with Japanese...

If it's a fanart image or just a screenie from a series you can try to google it, and see if a link ends up on yandre.re they put translation notes on some of the texts there.

p.s. didn't know you're learning Japanese too, although i could've guessed(anime fan...). Oh, and don't think i could translate it, maybe i can translate about 20 words if i hear them...

Here you go; get learning Razz

However, given that you'd need to learn at least 2000 different Kanji characters to become able to read Japanese fluidly, I'd personally give up and stick to Hiragana and Katakana...

@The-Light: I want to give it a try myself instead of finding a translation someone else made #Tongue I'll see if Google Translate can be useful to me.
@Bittah: Cheers, I'll see if it can help Smile

Great I am Learning japense too Very Happy, I am about to finish Hiragana and Katakana and start with Kanji soon.

Anyways here is a Word Text File (Forget which site that I downloaded it from but I think its in the file it self) It contains all characters you need to learn (About 2048) tho they are somewhat badly organized and does-not have the English to Japanese (Use a dictionary or Google translator to learn how to say it and hear it in English) Writing but it still has the English meaning of the characters.

Edit: Just don't give half way throw #Tongue

Pff, haven't touched it anymore I'm afraid. The reasons I wanted to learn some more was because I went to Japan, but I didn't do much for it. Maybe some day I will find the time to look into it more #Tongue

Nope, but wouldn't be surprised if there was one in Akihabara (aka anime madness district).
