I think he meant RA1-ish based.

Anyways these are part of a side-mod I'm working on which is making RA1 in the aesthetic of RA2. (The ICFRA Mod uses RA1 Aesthetic)

You should try using the same technique as on the typhoon sub to compensate bright side voxel lighting, by making the top facing voxel brighter, the sides darker.
