I've been trying to combine a voxel turret and body into a single file as per the instructions I got here awhile ago, but apparently I can't manage - the layers will always end up flood-filled with black pixels instead of the layer I was meaning to c/p into the file... would anyone be willing to lend a hand to help? It's not alot of work, just turret and barrel to be merged into body, and I could maybe learn something out of it too if I see the result.

Try copying the layer into a gfx program like photoshop & see if that works. If it does then try copy from vxlse > photoshop > vxlse.

You can edit voxels in photoshop??? Wow. I thought it's a 3D model.

a layer is only 2D.
You can copy it like an image.

So in theory... you could copy _any_ 2D image into a voxel as a layer?

...

You can create voxels with Photoshop even. XCC Mixer can convert voxels to pcx/png and vice versa.

Are you using the newest VXLSE? I noticed but didn't detail the effect in the new version, and it seems related to copying the normals  which older versions didn't.

I used to copy and paste in the older one, if I was making a sphere lets say, I could copy a layer from the X axis and paste it on the Y axis to see if I'm off by a dot anywhere. This doesn't work well in the new one...

Also are your voxels layers the same size?

dunno about you but latest xcc mixer when converting VXL to PCX/PNG
skips many frames/shapes

in fact it always copies random 15 frames only no matter how complex voxel is
