How can I get my custom mission to show in the launcher's mission list?
Or is there another way to launch a custom mission?

You need to edit INI\\Battle.ini and add an entry for your custom mission.

Anything. The Client doesn't care about it. The rest of the battles seem to use 1 though, so you might want to use it for consistency.
