Damn, over half of the people who posted in this thread aren't even around anymore. I'm starting to feel really old.
More like.. no one of the original posters with the exception of MigEater is around?
I hadn't even visited any C&C community site when this topic was made. Well, possibly WagnerMa.de, I grabbed FA2 from it back in 2006, and that's when my modding career started. It's been a while..
I do not agree with that... Modding early on kind of sucked... well not as developed. In my opinion. _________________ MadHQ's Graveyard - Click here!

Ha, so you remember Trivia: I had to change my very first nick (Yuri's 2000th clone) because having an apostrophe in a nickname caused some technical problems with the site.

I don't know about RA2 modding as I've never paid attention to it as much as I have on TS. I remember a lot more content being posted (nevermind the quality), as well as all kinds of competitions being hosted. The franchise was still fairly alive, sustaining people's interest in modding as well. The community just doesn't have the same atmosphere anymore...unless it's just me who's changed _________________
nah, you're right
-each week new modding discoveries were made (new logics, new info about file formats, new tools)
-competitions were a lot of fun. i miss them
-most modder taught modding themselves, so modders exchanged more their ideas/experience, instead of mostly explaining things to newbies like nowadays
-voxels and other public assets improved from week to week. I think nowadays we reached the peak of what is possible with these old engines and the current detail standard wont change a lot anymore.
I do not know that there are enough content makers out there to do competitions anymore.
but I do think there are enough players to have a factory game tournament ladder thing... I always thought about some time seeing if there was an interest in this... _________________ MadHQ's Graveyard - Click here!

Open source cnc modding opens up a lot of options in future though, because if you have potential to sell a game, it will encourage people to look for assets and more artists will join and activity in community grows.
Just look at unity for example.
A sad thing about "closed" modding is that some people don't really appreciate the time spent to create, test and modify. All they do is take from community and give nothing back or if they do it's to insult the intelligence of community members whilst thinking they're amazing to their own little group of cyberspace.
Also modding, like ambitious projects, is almost like a full time job without pay, gotta be pretty to be committed to that. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

Well since ra2 is now free on origin and that the servers are bumped with huge numbers of downloads this can be a golden chance for the ra2 modding more people interested in modding/playing the game might join the community QUICK_EDIT
I remember eagerly awaiting the newest C&C game just see what new logics to play with. Since TS brought in the concept of custom unitypes, weapons, etc.
Other than that was mostly re-making one C&C into another. Tiberian dawn in RA95 or a hybrid RA/Tiberian Dawn mod.
And what about Few? _________________ If you are a MetalHead (Heavy Metal Fan) and don't want to be a metalhead, Just remove your metal ball from your head. :p .
