I was wondering if it is possible to change the flag on the flagpoles you see when playing the game. For instance in final alert you make a map with a base and you wanted to plant a flag that is not original in the game. A dutch flag perhaps.

For some reason I managed to change the French Flag in the pre-battle drop down menu, so that has been taken care of. I am just talking about the waving flags in the game itself.

I have been looking at so mant threads I forgot how long I have been in here, maybe I misread, in that case i am sorry.

I made a lot of flag artwork but not dutch flag. You can base it on French Flag, they have same layout iirc, edit them with photoshop of something like it. The flags are in ra2.mix>isotem.mix and french one is named ctfrfgl_a.shp. You need XCC mixer to extract file so you can edit it.

Well I have been going at it for an entire day now, but i am failing.
I have to admit I am kind of a noob at this, so i am doing many things wrong and learning allot.
My problem is that when I use xcc I can convert the file i need to PCX and that gives me many pcx files, but they all appear a a black screen.
I have tried to look in the options for xcc and photoshow, but nothing works for me.
And when extract the shp file I just get 1 file (frame) that I can only edit in shp builder.

Can someone help me please?
Does someone have a dutch flagpole i can use for private use?
Or does anybody know of a youtube clip where i can get that info? I have been searching and asking...but to no use

You need to select a pallette before coping it. If your Red Alert/Yuri's Revenge is installed by an installer (path is in regestry), xcc mixer should find it. Flags, Buildings and stuff like that uses unitxxx.pal files all except unitsno.pal are same i recommend you to use unittem.pal. You can change palette from View>Palet>Red Alert 2

If your YR is installed from another way. (Directly copied all files from anywhere else.) You can enter path of yout YR folder under RA at view>dlrectories, and restart xcc mixer it should show RA2 palettes but under RA.

Ok, so now I have 32 pcx files that i can alter.
So if I understand it correctly I am now supposed to alter all the 32 files?
Swap out every colour?

You have made an impressive flag collection do you have any tips that will make this go faster or that will help in any other way?

You can load the shp file in SHP Builder and use the colour replace tool to edit all 32 frames at once.

I use PixBuilder studio to make the flags. Yea, you need to recolor them manually, but Replace Color Tool of PixBuilder helps there a lot. Select places that you'll recolor. (You need to use Shift and Alt with clicking to select non rectangular shapes, i think you know). Recolor it with Replace Color Tool, lighten or darken it with Colors>Red/Green/Blue... Allpying Replace Color again may be better here. Yes you need to do this for all 16 frames, (other 16 are shadows, no need to edit them.) I takes about 15 minutes to do one like simple recolor but there are harder ones, yours is not one of the harder ones, it's just a recolor.

Do SHP builder have it? I know VXL Elditor does but didn't know it's included in SHP Builder too.

My friend Mustapha, can i ask you something?
I have seen your flag collection and I downloaded it to take a look at what you made and they are outstanding.
Today I tried to make that dutch flag but I ran into a few problems. Because of shadow colors my white part of the flag looked gray. And the back ground color was the same shade of blue that i need for the blue part of the flag.

Can i purswade you to take a stab at this flag?
Your coloring of the flag looks much and much better than i can accomplish.
Would you please make one for me?

Hey Mustapha,

Thank you for helping me do this. I am not in any hurry, i allready am very gratefull for the help you have been giving me so far.
As for the pallette malfunction, i just used the pallete you recommended. All the colors of the are correct. Just the background color is the same shade of blue i needed for the flag.

Anyway, thanks again. As soon as i have this files i can compare them to my own so i can learn from my mistakes.

You shouldn't use #0 at normal image, this is bg color and will be rendered as transparent ingame.

I know what you mean when you say that the backgroudcolor and the Blue tone will be rendered transparant.
Itried today again to make a nice ditch flag but I failed again because the blue wasnt ok, and my white colorscheme was to gray Embarassed

After you create SHP do some touchups on SHP builder, you can use color schemes to change. Use the blues at start of 2nd from end row instead of Allied ones nor other ungrouped ones. They are the blue colors that orginal French flag uses. I used first 4 colors in grayscale on mine for white.

Hmm...I dont know what went wrong.
I was supposed to extract the PCX files so i can alter them, but my SHP builder does not open PCX files.
And when I opened a SHP file of a flag I just got one frame and not the 16 i was going to alter

When coping files back to SHP choose all PCX files and select Copy as SHP (TS) this crates an SHP file with all 32 frames.
