Pads count/place are not hardcoded, you can have any number of them at anywhere of building. Locations aren't in cells.

Even MO which uses 3x5 footprints limits aircraft to 4 its that way because you can is maxed at four or for purposes to keep the aircraft AI from going wonky.

Actually I will dispute the logic of that, my mod uses multiple aircraft for most houses, and the AI uses at least 2 of them. There are a number of times when I've caught the AI trying to build a team of higher tier aircraft while still having some leftover from a previous raid, sometimes before the raid even returns home. Then you get this funny behaviour where they will fly and land and fly and land endlessly, or until you kill the landed ones.

So you just said it yourself that having alot more dock locations and number of aircrafts per building messes up the AI.

Edit: Problem with adding more docks is balancing it and keeping it from being too overpowered. You can apparently go up to 16 Docks for Aircrafts. (Have fun coding all those offset locations)

My airbases have 4 pads, more might solve the issue since it's a sporadic problem. I've done everything I can on the AI side to mitigate the effect, now I need to upgrade Smile

That AI problem is an AI problem & has nothing to do with the number of pads. More specificity it happens when the AI triggers a new aerial attack before the last one has returned to base, building new aircraft in the pads that the returning planes intend to land on. They then either crash or get stuck in limbo trying to land.

To fix it you can raise the teamdelays, make the triggers activate based on unit count or add more pads.

Or use a secondary airport structure for the overflow, but yes, more pads is the plan...

Here's what I got so far from it, I decided to trash the building and keep the tower, used the onion from NAWEAP. It's on a 3x3 footprint leaving 6 cells for aircraft.

Not sure how I want to do pavement markings just yet, I started with plain tiled concrete a la most Soviet buildings.
