Using assets from mods
Subject description: on CnCnet for online use
Hey Everyone, many players/map makers on CnCnet have been enjoying many public assets created by ppmforums, and now I have a sensitive topic here. I'm about to use assets from dead mods. I've been trying to contact the owners and makers of many assets, and there is no response.
I want to get the entire faction of Reform, I can't get hold of SuperJoe.
I want to get the Scrin faction of True Power I'm still waiting for response.
I havnt found a (close to) perfected Cabal faction yet, so i wanna use assets from Tiberium Future: A Dying World, true power and I already got permission from the maker of Crystallized Doom to use his old version, And at least have all kinds of assets ready for balancing a nice Cabal faction on cncnet TS.
ALSO, I found free public assets, that have been touched up by TI Staff, and I heard Aro said it was fine to use them. Let me know if there's any objection. Please see all here:
I thought it was good to get this out in the open before i give it to the CnCnet staff and they upload it. Personally i believe this will make all the mod developers very happy to see their hard work come back alive, all ts mod players and mod makers can enjoy modding and playing all of this on the cncnet online platform.

Good question, thanks. No i dont expect anything from the community. I just wanna be loud and optimize the fun of using these cool mods and perhaps an owner will see this message. The last thing i want is a fight.
Hmm i don't think i see anything policy for that. Funkyfr3sh has only replied excitedly on what I've been posting so i dont think he made a policy about it, but i did just ask him ! Thanks for the questions QUICK_EDIT

I guess i could make a stand alone on moddb without a download first and see how it goes.
This is hard, i really wanna do this. But there are no rules like 'when a mod is inactive X amount of years it becomes free to the public' thats all i need, just a rule. All that will prevent us from enjoying this potential is just some fear that 'makers don't like you using their assets'.
In this case im pretty sure the makers don't mind it at all or even love the idea. Also in this case its not using the assets, but opening a doorway in an active game to (part) of the mod.

This is something many look forward to. The free assets that have already been added are great, but not used by many. To have the scrin and forgotten faction from True power and Reform would be an incredible time for TS online. Even some elite players that haven't really cared about the new assets have agreed that they will love a new faction. QUICK_EDIT
I personally think a dead/derelict mod with no activity from the author on the mod, or even participation in the community, is fair game.
