Hello everyone!

Welcome to the Command & Conquer: Remastered Collection Editing Forums! This forum is the place you have to ask modding help, post your modding doubts, discuss new techniques to bypass the limits of the game, and recruit members for your mod. Use the Mod Announcements to tease and gather fans for your mod.

For those who are starting to mod the game, we recommend the following tools:

-> NotePad++: This advanced text editor edits everything, including XML files. It includes several features to make text editing much easier and it's totally free.

-> OS BIG Editor: This tool is useful to browse and save the .meg files from the game.

-> XCC Utilities: Several file formats used in the game or at least with related code on TiberianDawn.dll and RedAlert.dll are can be loaded and extracted by this tool, including .mix and .shp files.

-> CnC TDRA Map Editor: This is the included tool to create maps. Map editors compatible with the original Tiberian Dawn/C&C 95 and Red Alert 1 can also be used to create maps, as long as the maps are converted by this tool.

We will update this topic as soon as we find out more about how to mod this game.

Remember that we hold no responsibility for these tools. Use them at your own risk.

Anyway, start your engines and have fun!

A little question for Banshee :

I found a topic on https://forum.dune2k.com/

Talking about extracting models from Dune 2K and maybe Emperor for dune and they talk bout you on :

http://www.yrargentina.com/

Do u ever tried or successfully export models from Dune 2K or Emperor for Dune ?

I'm searching in both games, but 3D models and graphics arent my cup of tea.

If u know a way for extracting and converting thoose files into SHP, i'll love it.

Best regards

Some people think I am some kind of wizard who knows everything on how to modify or tweak any game of any kind and this is not true at all. I believe that many people here would have better answers for these questions than I do.

I don't know how to extract models from Emperor: Battle for Dune at all. I am not aware of any tool that does that, but it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I just never tried to mod it in my life and I haven't seen tools to extract those models on Dune2k.com or sites like that.

And regarding Dune 2k Image files, they can be extracted with Dune 200 Image Converter, from Siberian GRemlin. But that's all I found out after over half an hour hunting the web. But I haven't tried out that tool myself, I can't confirm if that works, although Siberian GRemlin is a quite reliable guy.

Regarding http://www.yrargentina.com/, it is mostly focused on SHPs for Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2, which has nothing to do with the R8 or R16 file format from Dune2k, as far as I know.

Thank you very much,
i kinda found a solution for Emperor for Dune, and since the resolution of Dune2K was not very good, i'll stick on creating 3D model in Z-brush to have the best resolution i can.

I dont think u're a wizard, but time will tell us (^^).

Best regards

I think you'd be better off just recreating the buildings from scratch, at least the Refineries and War Factories, maybe Helipads.
Refineries and War Factories have to be re-made like how Mig Eater remade them from Generals for RA2.

Everything else can have the same shape, though the foundation definitely needs to be smaller. Can't have the Guild Palace larger than a ConYard, can we?

Although, judging from the code and what XBF files I've found (at least in my E:BfD copy), there are things you wouldn't normally see in-game at all, or at least rarely.
The question is how to make them (properly) buildable so people at least have an idea of what they're supposed to remake. Not quite an easy task considering E:BfD problematic and ludicrous cameo-placement.

Hi I'm trying to mod some sound files (I want to add the TD flamer sound to the RA flamers) and I think I need to get into the .MEG files to do this to find which sound files I need to override. (big ? over that as honestly I'm guessing at a bunch of things to add sounds and haven't yet found something that works)

But when I try to download OS BIG editor, the reCAPTCHA just spins forever and never confirms I'm not a robot so I can't download it.

Now I know I'm *not* a robot, as the reCAPTCHA to post this confirms it for me. Unless it's a false positive. Maybe I am a robot?
