I made some buildings (example in this image is Psychic Amplifier) buildable ingame and of course its cameo is the essential part.
I created the cameo with SHP Builder (newest version), converted it to .pcx file by XCC Mixer, added the CameoPCX=abcdefg.pcx in the artmo.ini but when ingame it's a complete black void. (still clickable and buildable)
What am I missing here?

Why aren't you saving them as .shp with the proper palette? And where exactly are you putting this new cameo, loose or into a mix?

cameo.pal lacks colors like purple. Also, creating a custom palette for each cameo is probably not a good idea.

He's saving them as .pcx since Ares supports 256 indexed color pcx files for cameos.

I don't know why it is a black void ingame, so can anybody show me how to solve this?

try to decrease color depth to 256. U can do it with IfranView.

usually i do this method when i wanna convert existed shp to pcx:
shp -> png-> pcx
how it works:
open your shp and its palette via shp builder then save frame to png, ensure that converted png has 256 color depth(not necessary but just in case) and then use xcc mixer to convert png to pcx(RMB on the png, copy as pcx).

Or if i wanna use images from web all i need is save image as png, decrease it's depth to 256 and then use xccmixer to pcx it

If you got photoshop save as this, can ignore Dither though.
