Deploying Buildings on Water
Hi guys I’m unable to check this out right now, but I’ve been making some art of water versions of basic structures for a Neptune:Uranus based map where it’s all water and thunder storms. No land at all. And I’ve been meaning to check out if it’s possible to have a unit deploy into a naval structure on water, like the naval yard. So I can raise conyards on a platformed mk and ini edit the structures to be naval and use new shp image= for water in fa2. Basically
Is possible to deploy an MCV into a naval yard?
Specifically does the logic exist for the deploysinto identify buildings on water?
That yuri hover MCV for example. Can it deploy into a naval structure? QUICK_EDIT
if you Reverse my frames before release then you want to -66 pixels from top of canvas and +66 pixels to bottom of canvas to align the original Conyard Anims to the new water base It probably take me a while to do the new water idle animation that appears around the bottom of all naval structures. However i am going to make it in such a way as the foundation is at least reuseable for all Conyards except Yuri. and the reason we exclude Yuri is because Yuri is going to elevate his structures on small water cliffs instead.
oh btw i may only do 1 theater for these structures. Since they are Map Specific. And it'll be a in snow theater unfortunately . However; it can all be adjusted with that +66 -66 rule i just mentioned and +3 frames on the MK.
Needs a nice shadow frame
Theres a bug that tells the Camera to spawn at the nearest Land Co-Ordinate as the game never expects you to have a water-based MCV. MCV usually autospawns to nearest land COORD but if made into a true ship it does not. The Camera still does though, So maybe tiny un-useable land squares near the start locations can settle this issue.
Unfortunately i couldnt get the animations to play on Image= in fa2.
I tried to make a new building GACNSTW and replaced all of the relevant GACNST stuff and then have the MCV deploy into this but it wouldnt detect the water even with WaterBound=yes Heres an un-animated version for now
I can finish this right now so i am going to have to figure out how to get these animations working later QUICK_EDIT
But i cant use the Sov and Allied ones, But i'l have a go at removing the tracks myself and installing floatation device for allies, and maybe a submerged portion for the soviets
I might do something crazy like create Japan and give it this MCV, and a few other basic structure as a unique unit.
Though it would be more fitting for China and its artificial islands, ra3 had japan making artificial islands. Maybe China vs Japan and they both have these sorts of MCV so they can duke it out in the ocean. Its either that or like some super mech which is boring af, or maybe like some extra robot tank for Japan, but its boring af. Need completely new gameplay. Naval base = completely new gameplay.
Could also add Saudi Arabia under soviet union altho i not sure they ever been soviet in real life, they do make artificial islands though so it might be worth consideration.
I might go ahead and make the full set for the map and dish the MCV's out to China and Japan as unique.
heres the GT
i say now if i can get this building working properly with animations i will adjust that MK so it has a few more frames during the start rising effect. But i really should take a look at the water effect now
I wonder if anybody has tested a Naval Barracks that can ONLY train rocketeers
i know its not all 30 frames of it, but its better than nothing right now
Embellishment like railings etc etc can be added to it at later time xD
heres a vid with all but one "rotating fans" animations functioning. Simple ZAdjust for the others but those fans i cant find them. QUICK_EDIT
Amazing concept, I’m using a water pillbox that would work with this quite well also! You could make a whole water based faction/country!
While we’re talking about water, I saw somebody post a picture of a white beluga whale, it was displayed next to a dolphin? Anybody know where I can find that?
I've looked through the old mental omega files for I think version 2.0? That was all I could find... if you could point me to the killer whale that would be awesome! QUICK_EDIT
Extraction of the beluga whale is not an easy task. Because of the way it’s graphic is drawn in that game. However; I will undertake this task eventually.
The Beluga is very large. And it looks really nice.
Looking nice is great and everything but it’s also only important to conduct work when you know you have a use for it
It needs extraction, it’ll need adding some remap if it’s to be used as a unit, and then you’ll need to figure out what function the unit performs and does it have a unique feature about it? Or is it just a giant tank version of the dolphin. These are all of the reasons I took a look at the beluga but decided in the end that it wasn’t priority.
I can get a killer whale as well, but it’s very large. Killer whale is quite fitting as it’s mentioned in an mission, where Eva says Giant Squid, what next, Killer Whales?
Killer whale unlike beluga would have interesting attack that differs from dolphin
1. Killer whale has breaching graphics, heavy breaching; so could potentially perform rocker type moves on water in addition to anti squid utility. But he will need a large collar drawn on him. Or some area of remap. The killer whale (my one not omegas one) would be more worth while to extract and implement I think. Since Yuri should get the squid, and what next, killer whales? Yeah Soviet’s training killer whales lol
I’ve been busy lately not ocd on ra2 as I am stuck thick in the development of a complex evolution simulator program drawing graphics for this program from scratch and coding the thing is beautiful. Is really some of my best stuff.
But Beluga vs Killer Whale
I can get humpback whale I can get all kinds of whale. You name it I can get it.
But again like I say extracting the unit fixing it up has to be worth it. You know. Like giving c4’s or Ivan bombs to a sea lion ; that’s worth it Sea lion are allied combat animals tho.
We’ll see. I will be hard at work tomorrow on my simulator but Monday I might take a break and continue/extract some of these animals. Or at least il show you guys them with extracted frames. QUICK_EDIT
Note I can also get Jelly Fish, Octopus, Electric Eel, Manta Ray
But last guy I extracted Stegosarus didn’t look too good in game in the end so it might be worth testing a few just frame by frame to see if they will look as good as the Mammath and Ceratops. Beluga will look nice so will killer whale but anything with beiges yellows oranges it stays to degrade in quality. Octopus unfortunately had some Sandy colours which probably won’t come through nicely.
I am really hesitant about the whales simply because they don’t differ very much from the dolphin. And you can’t go giving them c4s or other weapons that would make the unit less like a clone. ( and that killer whale breaching attack would look good if it’s pulled off correctly) but there’s still a gamble on that.
I am confident in the Sea Lion though. And the matter of drawing remap on it his neck his about 3 pixels wide. So it’ll be an Arctic Tanya style job. much more manageable. QUICK_EDIT
Navy Seals aren’t good when used out in the water. They are only good for c4s on your enemies Naval Yard. By default They don’t c4 boats like Tanya (or at least I don’t think they do?) so getting a Unit like the Sea Lion, and having it act as a support unit for Navy Seals, basically protecting them, you give the Sea Lion a c4 or timed explosive weapon that only works vs Ships, and now you have your Seals and Sea Lions working together in the water in naval combat at Radar tier tech level. And then you buff up this offensive when you hit Battle Lab tier and start throwing dolphins into the mix.
This to me sounds worth the effort. Because when it comes to adding a soviet tier unit to match this. We can start looking at a Sting Ray type unit with Tesla weapon with electric bounce on it’s WH/Projectile. That would be String Rays escorting Scorpions to counter Sea Lions and Navy Seals. (Ignoring both typhoon and destroyer (sea tanks) just this match up alone could self countering each other ) Soviet’s would then tier up at battle lab with either a trained Beluga (performing some function) or a killer whale that hits ships with rocker WH.
To summarise -/
Sea Lions counter Typhoon and Scorpion with instant kills cannot attack yard
String Ray (speed boat) counters Sea Lions from doing this
Killer/Sperm Whale although can’t remove squid from ships, he would be really effective at hunting and killing squid with a secondary bite attack.
AnimalMan that is nice, just keep brainstorming because this spreads new ideas or enhances existing ones!
Sea Lions are good naimals to create because they can go onboth naval and water, and has two versions, one white for arctic and one colored for temperate. We need more prop animals, not just fighting ones.
Oh, yes, regarding Jellyfish, I have seen that Tiberium FLoater to be used in YR as Jellyfish, since it looks like one. _________________
