Well, RA2 included a lot of USA and some Russian buildings. Too many USA, even... (since in Russia we got only Moscow buildings while they have multiple cities)

However, Yuri gets nothing!

Well, maybe Transylvanian castle but that's it.

Poor Yuri, what did he do to you?
Trying to take over the world? Let's not kid ourselves, anyone would do that if they were a genius psychic...

Anyways, here's my attempt at doing some Yuri civilian buildings. Just one for now. The title is plural because I intend to do more.

They are bad and should feel bad, but someone has to do it.

Also, no snow version for now.

This is intended to be used as a CIVILIAN building thus no buildup, etc. It has the frame arrangement to be occupied and also some rubble.

There are shadows, which aren't rendered in the frame I show as preview. The shadows are made in 2D so they are far from perfect.

In this first one, base is 2x5.

If others want to contribute to the "yuri civilian building proyect" they may post their stuff here as well.

This one could very well be an actual structure.

It is a yuri conventional radar based on lunar command.

However, as I am too lazy to make snow and buildups (and also bad at it), it is just a civilian structure for now.

If anyone wants to make it an actual constructable building they have my blessing.

Requisites for making it buildable:
- Buildup file
- Snow file
- Removal of rubble frame

Is there concept art or beta screenshots to use as reference?

Anyways, I don't think the answer is yes if it requires changed animations. There are *a lot* of superweapons animations and each has many frames. All my graphic work here is 2D. A proper superweapon with all anims needs to be done in 3D (like Harry/Scipion does). If it's just the static frame it could be done easily.

This one looks like you could genuinely use it as an alternate tech lab instead of as a civilian structure.

Could be. You acould use them as tech buildings to capture with engineer, just add the yellow wrench flag as active anim.

Also something I didn't take so much into account at first is that occupiable buildings don't normally have a "Base", only constructable buildings and some tech buildings (such as machine shop or airport).

Some of my buildings here have a base, others don't. The "based" ones could be used as tech buildings.

The edges are terribly trimmed, and many of the lines are improperly blended from a bad resize job.

Also with things sticking out I would just re-center for a 2x2 foundation.

Eh, you are wrong. There is absolutely no resize on this thing. Everything appears in the exact size from the original vanilla SHP parts.

What happens with the yellow side things is due to rotation, not resizing. It's not an original cropping problem either as you can see in the top yellow thingy (which is the same on the default orientation).

I used Photoshop CS6 but there is no way to rotate without either semi-transparent pixels or pixelation. Since semi-transparent pixels would look blue, I chose pixelation.

There is no way to avoid that with rotated parts unless you know of a specialized pixel art program that allows alpha-less rotation aproximations. If you do, please tell.

A 2x2 version would be a horrible resize however indeed, since the base is just the 1x1 square.

I do admit even though there was no rezise or any bad crop, those borders look messy, so future buildings will not have rotated outer parts.

Now I made a different better quality, if not entirely inspired, 1x1 building.

I really like these! Quite the excellent job, especially for campaign missions, to decorate Yuri bases (like how bases can have V3 racks, shooting ranges, or derelict tanks or such)!

Futuristic and Fractal, like something painted by Escher or Dali or the city from Metropolis (1927 movie) Very Happy

They look like temples and arcologies!


I'm working on some Yuri civilian buildings but they tend to have more of a fun fair / industrial horror look.

I'll post them when they are finished Smile

If you want to make Yuri civ buildings, I suggest you use Brutalism for a reference.









Stuff like this would be far more fitting for a Yuri ruled city IMO.

Guys I think I actually did it! An actual Yuri building prop that looks cool!

In fact, with some work, this could be a real base building. But ain't nobody got time fo' that...

(the parts are from buildups. I reccommend modders to use buildups from official structures for kitbashes, since they have a lot of unique frames that were never used. However, look for the "blue dots" around, because not all of them are properly cropped)
