Boris IFV Flare [SUCCESS] - Vanilla Ra2/ YR
Hi Guys
I'm trying to get a boris IFV to Call in Airstrikes
Iv'e replaced the cow shot
So far he gets in the ifv, the turret changes to the wrong turret (it changes to a 3;high tech) and the ifv does nothing when ordered to attack
I have tested him with other weapons and they work fine
Just cant get it to call in a Flare however
Here is my code - - I Did read the tutorial posted earlier, but of course there's a chance I missed something

There are no such tags as BorisTurretIndex= & BorisTurretWeapon=, You cant just make up your own rules code. Change them back to CowTurret & it should work. _________________
The planes summoned is bounded to the unit, not the weapon, so maybe you have to add those on Boris to the IFV. And I'm not sure if the vanilla game supports more IFV modes than it has, you may need Ares for that. QUICK_EDIT

Since you like IFV that much, you may want to harras Soviets with more IFV weapons. Check out Ares documentation! Ares brings possibility to add more IFV weapons to IFV. And more IFV types, as someone mentioned already. _________________
Pretty nifty discovery tbh. Could switch it up with Boris' IFV Mode if you plan on using Ares to be a airstrike spawner instead of just being a mounted AKM _________________ ~ Excelsior ~ QUICK_EDIT

In regards to the weapons, you may want only elites to call in airstrike and keep the normal weapon as "AKM"
But in my case i prefer to have Boris zip around and the enemy play Whac-A-Mole Sell on their buildings trying to guess where the airstrike will land
I find Elite IFV is OP enough if you know how to use it

Would love to check out Ares - The functionality is amazing and all community driven
Lately I've been really sad to find out how limited Vanilla is
But I won't give up on Vanilla - I hope to make cool maps and grow the community - Once we have a big community we can move on to bigger and better things and would love to expand into ares - I'm also interested in Open ra2 but that has many challenges ahead yet and im not sure about the modding scene (if there is one or not)

Vanilla still good I modded vanilla for years before even rock patch existed. I can’t remember what I use to do, swim animations, crazy Ivan buffs. I think there’s a way to get an additional Paradrop specified vanilla (not 100%) but I am sure there is a way to roll the American Paradrop out to other factions dropping specialised units. If not you can always tactify the default para. Or at least give USA something that isn’t a GI I always use to try to do things like this vanilla.
Boris not using air strike from within IFV is huge unholy combo-unit oversight and well needed buff for mix tech Soviet’s. Another great vanilla thing to do is expand all garrison types. You can also mess with the ai teamtypes and get the ai doing a little more interesting stuff. Utilise the cosmonaut, maybe roll out the Tesla tank as a generic soviet tank replace Russia UU with Cosmo, make load screen and overwrite it. Cosmo doesn’t really need rebalancing I found it’s best not to touch its stats. it’s very weak vs AA. If you stomping cpu with it you can write team scripts make sure they counter.
With ares you can always copy paste your ra2 folder and go get ares, install in one of the folders and have two versions. Ares does hugely improve modding potential. I always think it’s good idea to go get ares incase one day there’s no way to get ares anymore then at least you have a copy of it should the site and documentation go down Though I think some of it is backed up in Modenc not sure though.
