I finished off the multiplayer component of my unnamed TS mod today only to realize I probably won't release it anytime soon, if ever. Making Tiberian Sun fun and playable by modern standards, within the limits of the original TS engine and game design, was a neat challenge that went surprisingly well but ultimately I failed at my goal. What I created is not Tiberian Sun anymore since simply tweaking a few values didn't work out - I ended up rebuilding the gameplay based on OpenRA's TD mixed with TW. Alarmingly few original Tiberian Sun mechanics remaining unchanged, which was precisely what I wanted to avoid.

In the process of trying to moderinze the gameplay and balance the game to a satisfactory degree, I realized I would have to add a few infantry units. GDI really lacked in the department of advanced infantry, going so far as to use a Forsaken as a stand-in for a commando, and, while Nod had a bunch of neat infantry units, actually getting them to balance even remotely close to properly (looking at you, Cyborg) was a pain. So I came looking here, found very few Tiberian Sun shps, and decided to create my own. The art for that might be of interest to someone else. It's not exactly high quality since I could not be bothered to fix up all the hiccups. And the icons don't quite stay in line with the original Tiberian Sun style. Still, maybe someone is looking for something similar.

RAR contains:

HEAVI: GDI Shock Trooper; redo of SLAV armed with a railgun (uses WEATICON, which looks a bit like a riot or shock trooper if you ask me; didn't bother to redo this) - no firing animation since I used a muzzle anim for that

GCMDO: GDI Commando / Operator; recolor and slight tweak of UMAGON armed with a sniper rifle or light railgun

FANAT: Nod Fanatic; redo of CHAMSPY intended as a tiberium-infused suicide bomber; has no fire frames (uses standing) and did not bother with all the crawling frames since the unit is flagged fearless.

BHAND: Nod Black Hand; redo of MWMN armed with a flamethrower

NOTE: I recolored all my GDI infantry from the TS original grey, hence them not looking very "GDI" at first glance. Using two light-ish brown colors on GDI infantry makes the remap bits fade into the non-remap bits and using blue like on the Disc Thrower just felt odd since helmets are also blue - and using grey made them look like Nod infantry. Dark brown w. gold remap makes their infantry look much better IMO but that's fairly easy to color swap back. The sprites look considerably better ingame in GDI colors then they do on this forum background.

What makes you think that's not what other people want? You're probably too hard on yourself...
