Great to see a new Dune game, looks like the focus is on 4X gameplay with basic combat though. Was hoping for an RTS more like D2K/EBFD but I guess the 4X style better suits Dune's themes.

To be honest, I am not familiar with the difference between this 4X style and the traditional RTS style from Emperor: Battle for Dune. Can anyone explain it?

4X stands for "Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate" they are turn based games that typically take place on a single large map. They have a strong focus on resource management & research, it's also normally possible to with though either combat or peacefully with diplomacy. The most famous example of the genre is Sid Meier's Civilization.

I imagine most of the game will be turn based taking place on the map in the first picture. Then when you attack an enemy controlled area it zooms in & switches to real time combat like in the second image.

You could take a look at Shiro's Northgard, I guess the new Dune could be something similar to that. The decision you make is real time, it's just that there is also the territory mechanics like turn-based 4X.

Ok, thanks for the explanation. Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of this kind of game.
