Subject description: wondering how your mechanic works

hey guys i am wondering how did you get the semi transparent shroud to work i am trying to figure it out for tibsun warzone mod but it only regrows the full black shroud. if you can help me that would be awesome. i am sorry if i am posting this in the wrong area, i am not sure.

Completely wrong area, and regarding the semi-transparent shroud you saw at the news post you replied to, it is something coded into OpenRA and not the Tiberian Sun engine. So, it can't be done into the Tiberian Sun engine, unless you manage to hack it and properly study the engine.

I believe he's talking about the Fog of War, which is a game option in skirmish in TI.

@BarakYisrael: Check the Resources->GameOptions.ini to see how the translucent shroud aka Fog of War is coded in. It's only enabled for skirmish because it causes desyncs in online multiplayer (instead you have the option for a regenerating shroud in multiplayer).

thank you guys for the speedy reply. i checked both gameoptions ini for warzone and insurrection and have the same data lines:

Text=Fog of War
SpawnIniOption=FogOfWar
Checked=False
Location=998,64 ; <-- your actual location here
ToolTip=tooltip for that option

Is the spawninioption spawning in a fogofwar? and if so i would assume then that the fogofwar in twisted insurrection is modded.
in reply to banshee, no there is a possibility to get fog of war that is semi transparent and not a full black shroud. twisted insurrection does this same exact thing with a fog of war, where the map will still be reveal, but without a line of sight it becomes shrouded, or i guess to differentiate, it becomes fog of war and not shroud. how does one emulate this to another mod or even vanilla tibsun?

edit: just to clarify this option doesnt appear in warzone mod menu, and when i used the same paramiters for an regrow fog of war option, or even editing it in rules ini it only regrows shroud and not fog of war

yea i realized i was talking about fog of war, i wanted to say i am using the latest warzone mod. is there anyway to use fog of war for the mod?
