Some time ago I was playing a mod that had a Grinder that could steal units' tech when they went inside. Infantry and Vehicles, and if I already had them they got promoted to veteran.
I would like to ask: how is that possible?

I don't have the mod now and can't even find it on the internet to look into its codes.

Sounds like ARES's "Reverse Engineer" option, possibly expanded with HARES.
