Hi all!
So, I started up the game through Ares as usual to test my AI to see if there is something wrong. It crashed sometimes due to the massive armies just like it always does (yes, needs a lot of optimizations).
BUT then it freezed, so I had to wait about half an hour for it to tell me that the game shut down unexpectedly, blah... blah... blah...
When I modified my AI again and started the game I noticed a huge difference. Every graphic except the sidebar and the terrain has gone.
No cameos (even the xxicon), no voxels, no SHPs, nothing. When I checked the .mix files it told me that they are "unknown". I tried extracting then opening them in their editors, but they said they are unable to open those files.

Is there a way to restore them somehow, or do I really have to rebuild, redraw and redownload these 1000+ files (including the buildings, of course (Vanilla buildings are easy to get back by reinstalling))?

Editing a single ini files can't cause all the game files to suddenly become corrupted. You either did something else or your hard drive is failing, in which case you could possibly lose everything.

XCC Mix Editor is known to corrupt mix files in some situations, were you using that? A drag & drop feature was added to XCC Mixer years ago which fixed & replaced the Mix Editor, some people dont know about it though & continue to use Mix Editor instead.

But to your question, AFAIK you cant restore a corrupted mix file, you'll have to remake it again.

I see. Welp, another 2 years of my free time has gone Neutral At least I won't be bored.

-I think it was because of the crash of the game, I mean, since it was the only program using those maybe it could not save them?

-The backstory was only some extra info just in case.
-I will check my HD to be sure, and will back up my files.

Thanks btw.

XCC Mix Editor corruption almost never leads to actually unreadable mixes for the tools, it's just the indexing or data structure that creates enough error for the game to crash.

If the mix is truly unreadable, then you have bigger problems like failing hdd as Mig says.
