What is that inside red circle? seems like the voxel is tiling or something, really frustrating, anyway it is my art, my original, created in AutoCAD, exported via sketchup, I will upload the 3D model soon

The rendering window of a voxel on screen is limited, that's why the functional size of a voxel in pixel length has to be cautiously approached. The practical limit for a narrow voxel is about 240 length, and about 180 width in the case of an airplane wingspan, but if it extends to the corners, the limit is much smaller.

Now it's also possible, the center of your voxel can be adjusted so as to make sure it doesn't stick out too far in one direction, which might help avoid the limit. The other recommendation is to use bounds shrinkage to bring it down to 90% or even 80% size, to see if that's enough.

As for this particular voxel design, why do you have streaking on the angled side panels? I might also suggest giving it some scratches and highlights to break up the monotony of the black.

The voxel is bigger then the render area which will cause clipping & graphical errors. You need to make the voxel smaller to fix it.

PostPosted: Tue May 24, 2022 7:43 pm    Post subject:  Optimum Voxel Length 240 or 220? Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Well, thanks for your replies, I thought the size might be the problem, I know voxels size limit can be 255x255x255, but what is the optimum size we are talking about? i.e maximum size that can be rendered "WITHOUT" lags? I tried your 240 but the results might not be that promising:

Also, when I resized (elongated) the voxel a little bit, this happened: could it be because of unproportional resizing?

Yea you can't stretch a voxel, only shrink it. And like I say, make sure it is centered as best you can to fit into the display limits.

While the maximum size of a voxel is 255x255x255, there is also an ingame render area of 256x170 pixels too. If parts of a voxel go outside of the render area then they will be cut off &/or be rendered incorrectly. For example in your first image the left wingtip of the Black Manta is outside the render area, which results in the tip being glitchily rendered on the right side.

Here is an image of a 200x200x200 "borg"cube that clearly shows the render area.
