Can the orientation of padded aircraft be changed in RA2YR1001?
It defaults to N-E and I'd like it to be S-W instead.

And can padded aircraft be made to attack air targets (like Kirovs) or is there some code preventing this ?
I did a quick test and was unable to force-fire on my own air units although the projectile code was AA (correct type).

No I think. Landing direction of aircraft follows the direction of airpad, and building deployed during gameplay always default to direction 0, which is North in game, and top-right in display, so aircraft can't land in any other direction other than that.

Aircraft can't attack air targets in vanilla game no matter what. You need expansions, be it NP or Ares or anything else that states "allows air-to-air combat" in readme.

In TS you can use StartFacing, but I think that came with FS and thus didn't find it's way over to RA2.
If there is a key in RA2 to set the start facing of a building turret, then you could try that one.

\Edit
you could try DeployFacing. It seems similar to StartFacing.
DeployFacing=4 may cause the aircraft to face southwest, but i doubt it. (btw, in TS newly build aircraft ignored StartFacing and only after moving and landing again they used the set facing)

I recall there's a tag in RA2, but had no effect.

the PoseDir= tag under [audiovisual]; it changes the direction that
aircraft face while they spawn, but not the direction that they land so
the tag isnt of much utility

Minor use there: you know which one was used (and may have XP gained).

Not what you are after but a side effect of using Flyby= is that aircraft will land in whatever direction they approach the airfield from.

That would be interesting for 4x4 Pads, but for Uneven pads with longer aircraft won't do.

I thought FlyBy is used not to slow down when doing something like attacking or paradropping.
