# INI Weaver — Release Notes

**INI Weaver** is a node-based editor for
Red Alert 2 / Yuri's Revenge INI modding. Instead of hand-editing thousands of lines in
`rulesmd.ini` and `artmd.ini`, you lay modules out on an endless canvas and wire them together.
The editor keeps track of what refers to what and writes the INI for you.

It ships with a large built-in INI dictionary, a module library, and a tutorial project that
walks you through everything the editor can do.

---

## What it does

**Canvas and linking**
- Drop a module on the canvas and link it to others by dragging from a node to a target module.
Forward links, reverse links, and multi-target links all work the same way.
- Reverse links are pre-configured for the common cases (for example reverse-linking any weapon
to a unit connects its `Primary`). New ones are set up in `RegisterTypes.json`.
- Right-click a node to remove one specific link; Shift + drag cuts a link straight away.
- A hub module lets you point one list (an `AnimList`, for example) at a whole pile of warheads
at once, so changing the hub changes all of them.
- Reusable single-value blocks drive many modules from one number. Link-in nodes stay in sync.
- Group modules together, or drop a group frame you can drag by any corner. Frames and the blocks
inside them move as one, while each block stays individually editable.

**Dictionary and editing**
- Every line in the dictionary comes with a description, and the New Line box searches both line
 names and descriptions.
- Press F1 to switch between the friendly comments and the real data on the canvas.
- Double-click a module to edit its text directly, adding or removing lines by hand.
- But no English dictionary is included, sad. Maybe someone from modenc can make such files.......
- F2 renames the comment name (what you see on the canvas), F3 renames the registry name
(what actually goes into the INI), F1 switches between them.
- Ares-style inheritance (`[ABCDE]:[HTNK]`) is one click away, and Phobos inheritance is an
 ordinary line you type yourself.

**Bulk work**
- Flag packs are plug-and-play bundles of standard lines: Gattling, `InitialPayload`,
Ares' custom armor (`Versus.`), and many more. Attach one to a module and its contents are
written under that module on export.
- Freeze a module so it stops responding to dragging, or hide it so it is left out of the export.

**Assets**
- Drag SHP or VXL files straight into the editor and the matching INI blocks are created for you.
- A built-in FLH calculator (using Image Shaper's algorithm) helps you place turrets and muzzles.
- Wav files can be imported and previewed, and several of them can merge into one Sound or Eva entry.

**Repository and export**
- Load a full baseline INI set in one click, or drag any INI into the repository. Everything on the
canvas is a view onto the repository, so deleting a block from the canvas does not touch your files.
- Export to INI in a configurable output format, optionally auto-appending `[#include]` lines to
your main INI, or export the whole repository at once.
- `modproj` loads many projects together and compiles them into a mod in one go.
- You can also save the canvas as a PNG that carries the entire project inside the image, and load
 it back later.

**Workspace**
- List panel to filter modules, or hide and freeze them in bulk. Ctrl+F searches the canvas and the
 repository together.
- Navigator for large canvases, multiple canvases in one window, custom hotkeys, dark theme,
adjustable fonts and grid, three link styles, and a knife for cutting links.

**Languages**
- The interface is available in Chinese and English, switchable in Settings.

---

## Requirements

- **Windows.** The program uses the Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime, which ships with Windows 11
and is already present on Windows 10 machines that have Edge installed. On older machines you may
need to install it once; if the runtime is missing the program tells you and links you to the
official Evergreen Bootstrapper instead of failing silently.
- No other dependencies. The package is self-contained and does not need a separate runtime, a
.NET installation, or a web server.

---

## Getting started

1. Unzip the package and run `WeaverWeb.exe`.
2. Open **Settings** and point it at the folder containing your `gamemd.exe`. This is also where
you can set hotkeys to match your habits.
3. Click **Load All INI** in the Repository panel to load a complete baseline INI set, including
  everything reachable through `[#include]`.
4. Press **Tab** to open the module library, and drop your first module on the canvas.

On the first runs the tutorial project opens automatically. Its comment boxes (Tutorial 0 through
Tutorial 14) cover linking, editing, groups, assets, flag packs, inheritance and exporting, so you
can walk through the whole program in order.
