USS Canberra (Bastion Class Heavy Cruiser)
I have created a very big voxel, but it may still be useful for some things, such as a mission where you have huge ships, etc.*
Statistics:
Name: USS Canberra
Class: Bastion Class Heavy Cruiser
Length: 480m not including the plasma supressors
Finspan: 180m
Height: 90m
Mass: 250kT
Armaments:
4x 256mm Nemesis Anticruiser Gauss
20x 160mm Nemesis Anticruiser Gauss
1x Salvaging Laser Cutter
4x Beta Calibre torpedo tubes
Fighter Compliment:
2x Insystem Crew Shuttle
Pod Capability:
Custom pod designed to carry 32 fighters or 16 medium bombers.
*Clarification: As in a mission where you have to destroy an enemy battleship. This was designed for Tiberian Sun.
PS: This is the voxel of a spaceship from my novel, if you have heard about it, which is why it looks like the Hyperion and Midwinter class vessels from Babylon 5. If anyone wants a full description of the ship, or of the USS Bastion, I am willing to accede to the latter, as I have only worked out the history of the USS Bastion, except in sketchy details like: This ship was known to have participated in the Battle of Capitale [The e has a rising tone like the first one in elite]. I am working on several other models, such as the one with a fighter pod, as well as a more colourful one which is the Xoran, Vonturan, and Wytheran equivalent (Collectively these species are known as the Hymenopterans or genestealers, the latter being because they can absorb genetic traits from other species, and... never mind).

As interesting as this unit sounds, I've no idea how you are going to put in TS/FS or RA2/YR. You could possibly incorporate a weapon with a large burst and mod the V3/DMISL/CMISL and allow it to transport fighters but I think the salvage laser would be difficult to do. An interesting idea that might be worth addressing for some sort of space mod.

Edit: Having looked at in VV, it looks far to small to be for RA2. It is easily smaller than my heavy tanks. _________________ "deth is only the beginning," Imhotep from 'The Mummy' QUICK_EDIT
maybe as a 3d model and maybe in a homeworld mod but a voxel? unless your making a TC for YR with space terrain i dont think this is of any actual use _________________ QUICK_EDIT

The ship does not look big, but it is at a scale of 5 metres to a pixel in plan view, not including the blue things sticking out the back, which are plasma surpressors.
(PS How big do your heavy tanks look in VV?)
Also, from babylon 5, there was this ship called the Sharlin class cruiser, a minbari vessel, and they didn't lay the sizes down in stone until it was too late and someone had put one of the ships into a scene at one eighth of its correct size. In space, you hardly notice because there is no sense of foreground and background.
Ackron, before you read the previous sentence, in Babylon five (it is just the show I am most familiar with that's all) Earth Alliance vessels such as the Hyperion (see the resemblance?), the Midwinter, and Omega class vessels, two or three times the size of this ship, can accelerate at 10kms[sup]-2[/sup], and that is faster than most aircraft today. _________________ *suddenly appears behind superior officer*

i do see the resembelence actualy im not especialy fimiliar with babylon 5 but saw the occasional episode. but your ship just seem too small not disporportionate. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
It looks OK it just needs the colours fixed then it might look a bit better (sorry if thats what the colours are meant to be like, i havent ever seen Babylon 5.) _________________ Singer-Songwriter Christie Isaac QUICK_EDIT
What class of ship is this? If it is a capital ship (like a heavy cruiser or such), then it could easily afford to be twice the size in every dimension. QUICK_EDIT

Sorry, Major, but the problem with that is that you are passing judgement over my vessel. I never said that it was a capital ship such as a heavy cruiser, but that it was a Heavy Assault Cruiser, as in the next size of ship smaller than a capital ship (which can reasonably be expected to be a very large size down). It measures 480m long without the plasma surpressors, 530m long including them.
In Babylon five the hyperion and other heavy cruisers are slightly mottled gray with light blue markings. They (EarthForce vessels) are the clumsiest vessels of the major and most of the minor races (barring the Grome, Hurr, and Brakiri). The Bastion is the opposite in my novel. It is designed to be a devastating long range strike ship, with very high manouverability (hence the plasma surpressors, which add manouverability at the expense of acceleration, MSS and MSCS) and an extremely powerful weapons loadout, capable of completely bypassing enemy shields (all of the types, even refractive (the ones you see the minbari, centauri, practically everyone with shields using, barring the thirdspace lifeforms)). _________________ *suddenly appears behind superior officer*

Well, when ppl post things for comments and opinions, that tends to happen... I mean, that is how ppl form opinions, right?

The maximum size for a voxel (in any direction) is 255 voxels. If you plan on adding fighters to this, they need to be at least 20 voxels long (making it rather smaller than the RA2 Carrier's Hornet). So Escorts should be about 90 voxels long, frontline ships could stand to be about 180, and huge Capital ships should be around 250. This is "forcing" the scale, I know, but voxels are a crude medium and you/players need to be able to see/distinguish each of the ships and their relative power at a glance.
You can of course do exactly as you please; I am only trying to help, not dictating what you should do. QUICK_EDIT

Poor choice of words, Major, but the fact remains that you were saying that it could easily be twice that size. In your opinion, it could be twice that size, but things do not often work like that. Also, what about major installations such as shipyards?
Also, there is not that much difference between a heavy assault cruiser and a heavy cruiser, except that the first is more specific and more tedious to write. I had assumed that I had included the word Assault in my class designation, which I maybe shouldn't have done. The context, however, makes clear that I think that it is a heavy assault cruiser (which is WHY I had assumed that I had put it into the description).
FYI, I am going to make a larger version of this voxel (2.5m/vxl). Danke Schon. _________________ *suddenly appears behind superior officer*

So? I never denied that anywhere! I still think it looks like a miserably small voxel, and I hardly see way it was a poor choice of words.

What about them? They'll be bigger anyway. Besides, look at RA2 - the Warfactory is *far* smaller in comparison to the tanks it produces than any such facility would be in real life. See my quoted comment above.
Quite honestly, I couldn't care less what you do. I've said nothing rude, I've not insulted you, and I've been entirely constructive in my comments. I offered you some advice and gave you my opinion on your voxel, and for some unknown reason you took offence. I'm not going to bother anymore; "Sie sind willkommen".
And ppl wonder why I'm short with new posters. QUICK_EDIT
Whoops, forgot to log in, Sorry about that one, but yea, I used it first in the Tiberian Survival's Beta Tester area..Anyhoo...Interesting Voxel...Should be a tad bigger, although. _________________ ... QUICK_EDIT

I gave perfectly honest, constructive, and objective replies to all of the advice, and I was not offended in the least, Major. For some unknown reason , you think I took offence. I don't know why I didn't delete my username and bookmark when I returned from the summer school. _________________ *suddenly appears behind superior officer*
