I like the gunfire animation. The Banshee is a nice looking anim, but quite unreal... or seems to not follow physics laws strictly...

they most definately dont apply in tibsun as a projected ball of plasma would be impossible.

how exactly do you do that in blender?

Basic physics exist. Objects may accelerate, gravity exists, laws of elasticity apply in some form (disc thrower), and gas dissipates (although I admit it doesn't act realistically).

ackron i simply used a uv-sphere added a particle system to it made 2 duplicates
scaled one and reduced it to one vertice changing it to the central halo
other one used for the vector particles( lines ) last one used for halo particles( cloud )

for the plasma( green ) i used a single halo( 1 vertice with a halo material )
made it into a flare and set an animation to the halo size

it's a simple particle system with a balck background

if you dloaded blender i could make a few tutorials and post em somewhere here
