If you've played, please, reply what do you think of the game? Is that good? Enjoyable? Different? Lacks basic features that the older games had? Etc...

Personally, I think its an excellent game. It might not be original granted but there are many good ideas in there (I love being able to drop my rangers from a chinook into an enemy garrisoned structure). So far I've had no reason to fault it (maybe because i've got a comp that can run it well but that's a minor detail Wink).

minor? That's a great detail, man. Here my duron supports an avarage of 4 to 9 fps... but when I put 8 players, it falls drastically and here, it still happens to appear some "serious errors" because of my VIA chipset, but it was much worse before Cacheman. Cacheman is magic, dudes, I just set the preset to Windows 98 -> 3D Games and it's hell better. But, just like I said, it still happens to appear the damn serious error. Yet, the percentage of the chance of a serious error happen is 12.5%. (1 in each 8 games, which is tolerable).

What really frustated me was the mod support. I tried modding it as well, but got completely confused. The files are all separate and interdependent of each other. So, it's very hard to find what you want and, if you find, it's even harder to keep the integrity of your modification. The situation gets even harder when you commit a mistake. The game itself gives a "serious error" before loading. EAP made a forum to people share their modding ideas, but they dont help troubled modders. EAP doesnt distribute modding tools, neither tutorials. The support they give to modding the game is worse than RA2's support, because in Red Alert 2, the rules.ini IS DOCUMENTED, something that they removed when they made Generals.

Serious errors? VIA Chipset? Uh oh....

I've got me a VIA chipset too and *fingers crossed* i've had no major problems yet and this is after about 30 skirmish games and the china and us campaigns.

Those who have VIA chipsets made before 2002. I bought my current mb in 2002, but the model of it was made before 2002... There are some good solutions for that which I'm lazy to install..
