Has anyone played RA on LAN? Because whenever me and my friends try to play, theirs always some errors or somethin and it never works. Anyone know how to fix this? Because we would really like to all play eachother. Also when he upgraded to XP professional Ra doesnt even work anymore because it says it only works on windows 95.

I've played with Null Modem, too. LAN on old games doesn't work too well, I find (Probably due to new drivers for stuff)

I used to play on LAn a lot with RA and I never had any problems that weren't caused by me or my friends having some kind of change in the files but that was always fixed by reinstalling.

Ive had problems with RA2 lan, but it's easy to fix. Just delete the IPX/SPX protocols from all net adaptors except your lan one. Then, it works quite well and very fast....

...The IPX/SPX protocols from all net adaptors (what? #Tongue)...

My problem is that in theory I can play RA2 in lan but I can't see the other computar in the chat... I have Zone Alarm firewall installed (but i think that it not have problems), and only 1 copy of the YR game... (my question could be "if I can use an Key Gen to make a different CD-Key in the 2 computers... the game can run in lan or have any different problem?) Oops!

That should in theory work but most keygens for anything I've ever seen don't support multiplay.

LAN doesnt need unique CD Key. So, there is no need for Keygen in your case. All you need are 2 valid CDs (PS: I'm trying to avoid talking about piracy here, due to the terms of service we have with our host). The problem I was talking about is that RA2 uses the first IPX/SPX protocolled network driver it "sees" when it gets into the LAN mode. In my case, I have 5 network cards:

- Dial Up.
- Network Card connected to the Cable Modem.
- Cable Modem PPP card.
- Main LAN card.
- Internet Conection Sharing.

In order to have my LAN working, I have to remove the IPX/SPX protocol from all cards, but my main lan card. Why? Otherwise it uses the wrong IPX/SPX protocol as lan and I will never see the other pc....

I dont play YR on lan, because I dont have 2 CDs, but I play RA2 and it's quite fun.

ok here is the method to play on RA1 on XP

you need winzip to decompress the file that you will download

method:

1)DON'T LAUNCH the installation by the autorun. desactive it, and launch the file "Setup.exe" in the CD-ROM.

2)Launch the game and you will see this error:

3) Download this file on westwood and with winzip, open it
http://www.timeofwar.com/downloads.php?num=730

4) Took the file DDL "thipx32.dll" on the Zip and copy it to the ra2 repertory's game. Normally it 's
Quote:
C:\Westwood\REDALERT\

5) launch again the game, and you will heard a Window's error sound and the screen will stay black. Press the touch "ALT + TAB" and you will see the problem:

http://timeofwar.com.rya-network.com/ar1/images/articles/xpar1/2.gif

6) you need to configure the file "RA95.exe", cross the following field on the propriety of "RA95.exe":

Launch the game again and kick soviet's ass with tanya Twisted Evil or allies with V2 rocket !!

Tips and article writted by Sixty-nine for C&C: Time Of War(www.timeofwar.com). Traduce from the french to the English by me.

I hope that you will be able to play now TS ! Smile [/url][/b]
